Where to play in go on road trip around Fujian during Dragon Boat Festival? Five food guides of go on road trip scenic spots around Chaoshan recommended by senior foodies.
Suggestions for traveling on the road: Xiamen-Chaozhou (ancient city)-former residence of Chen Cifu in Shantou+old city-Shantou-Xiamen.
1. Kaiyuan Temple
Kaiyuan Temple, located in Kaiyuan Road, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, was built in the 26th year of the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (738). The whole temple retains the layout of the Tang Dynasty and embodies the architectural art of different dynasties such as Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing, and the incense is flourishing. The main hall and pavilion are made of wood and stone, closely connected by wooden tenons and supported by leading arches. They spread up layer by layer, up to eleven floors at most, and are under great pressure from the roof of the hall. The roof of the temple is decorated with four double eaves and double drops of water, and the glazed tile walls are spectacular.
2. Guangji Bridge
Go straight along Dongmen Street, and you will reach one of the symbols of Chaozhou: Guangjimen Tower, opposite the famous Guangji Bridge. Guangji Bridge, an ancient traffic artery between Fujian and Guangdong, is also called "the four ancient bridges in China" with Zhao Zhouqiao, Luoyang Bridge and Lugou Bridge, and it is the first retractable pontoon bridge in China and even in the world. Walking on the bridge, even lying on the stone bridge for a while and blowing a little wind for a while, is definitely a pleasant experience.
3. Paifang Street
Go back to the city wall and come to Paifang Street, Chaozhou Old Street. Chaozhou beef balls, spring rolls, duck mother's twist, beef offal, straw chaff and other time-honored delicacies with Chaozhou characteristics can be found in this street. You can choose Zhen Ji and Xima Road.
4. Former residence of Chen Cifu
After a hearty meal, set off for the Chaoshan junction, and you can reach the next scenic spot-Chen Cifu's former residence in less than 1.5 hours' drive. The former residence was built in the second year of Xuantong in Qing Dynasty, covering an area of 25,400 square meters and having 506 halls. Known as "the first expatriate in Lingnan" and "The Small Forbidden City in Chaoshan", it is also the largest modern family-style building in Chaoshan area.
Chen Cifu's former residence embodies the architectural features of Chaoshan dwellings. The main hall of the mansion is a "four-cent gold" layout, with fire paths (also known as double-backed swords) on both sides, similar to the East-West Palace format of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Divided into several small courtyards to form a living network of small houses and big houses, plus stairs, overpasses, corridors and roof sidewalks, it should be integrated, winding and fluttering from the outside.
5. Outer Road in the Old Town of Shantou City
Drive to the old city of Shantou again and continue to explore food. The old town of Shantou is a tasteful place. Although shabby, it has a sense of historical vicissitudes.
In Shantou, Jedi can't miss night porridge, beef hot pot, bean curd, coix seed soup, sugar onion pancakes and so on! Compared with Chaozhou, Shantou's oysters and other snacks are more authentic, and old shops such as Haiji Beef and Fuhecheng Beef Pills are recommended.
Chaoshan cuisine has a long history and a wide variety of taste buds. When you go to the store to taste it, you will feel hungry, excited and satisfied with your taste buds ... and more fun lies in the process of driving to explore food and the mood on the road with family and friends!
