5. Diqing is a high-altitude area (3300 meters). It is not suitable to exercise strenuously or drink alcohol. Eat more vegetables and fruits to prevent altitude sickness.

6. If there is no special reason, ordinary postal services can be completed in any township in Diqing, but the time will be different. In Shangri-La County, postal communications are as complete as those in big cities. But in areas with inconvenient transportation, letters that usually only take 2 days to be sent will take 5 days or more.

7. The local specialties are dried yak, Tibetan knives and Tibetan medicine. Many dried yak are made from cattle, and the taste is much different. If you want to buy yak jerky, you can go to local supermarkets. The prices are much more reasonable. Those tourist shops can only say one word - expensive. Remember to buy the Tibetan Knife at a specialty store, don’t worry, and then mail it through the post office.

8. If you have friends with weak physiques, it would be better to sign up for a club. Lijiang Sands Club’s pure tour group is very good. It is also confirmed that independent travelers can rent small oxygen bottles at the hotel, which are about the same size as air fresheners. The deposit for the bottle is 20 yuan and the oxygen is 5 yuan. But if you smoke continuously, it will be used up in 2 minutes. Also prepare some high-calorie foods such as chocolate, which are a must-have in plateau areas. You must also bring enough clothes. The temperature in Shangri-La is relatively low all year round, especially when playing in the snowy mountains. Another pair of sunglasses is also essential to avoid snow blindness.
