Can foreigners apply for a temporary residence permit when they travel to China?

Foreigners who want to travel to China need to apply for a tourist (L) visa from China's embassies and consulates abroad. Those who travel to China in groups of more than nine people can apply for a group tourist (L) visa. Foreigners who go to Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Xiamen Special Economic Zones may apply for "Special Zone Tourist Visa" directly to the above-mentioned port visa authorities. If you stay in Hainan Province for business, tourism and visiting relatives for no more than fifteen days, you can temporarily apply for an entry visa at Haikou or Sanya Port. Foreigners in Hong Kong do not need to apply for an entry visa to travel to Shenzhen Special Economic Zone for 72 hours.

Foreign tourists can travel in China during the period when the visa allows them to stay in China. When the stay period expires, if you need to continue traveling, you can apply to the local public security organ to extend the stay period in China. After the trip, you must fill in the exit card within the validity period of the visa, check the documents from the international ports open to foreigners by the border inspection authorities, and leave the country after being stamped with the exit inspection stamp.

If a foreigner loses his passport in China, he should report the loss to the exit-entry department of the local public security organ in time, state the loss process, and apply for an exit certificate at his own embassy or consulate in China with the certificate issued by the public security organ, and then go through the corresponding formalities at the exit-entry administration department before leaving the country.
