I. Air tickets

As for air tickets, I usually pay attention to extending the route. For example, Cathay Pacific Airlines flies from Hong Kong to Sydney based in Hong Kong, and its Dragonair operates flights from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. It is cheaper to transfer to Sydney in Hong Kong than to fly from Hong Kong to Sydney. Similarly, the flight of China Eastern Airlines from Shanghai to Honolulu is the same as that of China Eastern Airlines from Hong Kong to Shanghai, only one flight is cheaper. It's not hard to understand. The round-trip ticket for the four of us from Hong Kong to Hawaii via Shanghai is only about 10K RMB. On the other hand, if you only buy a round-trip air ticket from Shanghai to Honolulu, it will cost about 7K RMB, which is very different.

To go to Hawaii, you need an American visa and a valid EVUS. At the same time, you need to bring the child's original birth certificate and public documents. The driver's license had better be notarized. Although you haven't used it so many times, it's safer to take it with you. Here, it is important to mention the Hong Kong and Macao Pass. If the mainland transits through Hong Kong to a third country, it does not need a Hong Kong and Macao pass, but only needs a passport to transit through Hong Kong. But if the itinerary is Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Honolulu as mentioned above, then Hong Kong and Macao passes are needed for the return trip. Honolulu airport can't print boarding passes with passports, but fortunately, only Hong Kong and Macao passes can be used for boarding passes. This is very important! Before I left, I couldn't find very accurate information on the Internet. I don't know whether to leave from Shenzhen Port or Shanghai or pass through Hong Kong with my passport or Hong Kong and Macao Pass. Actually, I changed my boarding pass at the Hong Kong airport. Although the maiden voyage is from Hong Kong to Shanghai, I can transfer in Hong Kong with my passport and two boarding passes. On the contrary, I have to go back to Honolulu-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Shenzhen. Otherwise, you can't change your boarding pass, and there is also a problem with connecting flights in Hong Kong. There's really no need to think about it. China territory and Hongkong still need passes. Imagine if I use the Hong Kong and Macao Pass to transit Hong Kong and then fly directly to Hawaii without leaving Shanghai International Transit Zone. Is it illegal to enter the country without leaving your passport?

To add to the problem of bringing milk powder into the United States, I have two cans of milk powder, one of which has been opened, and the rest of the food on the plane has been checked. When I enter America, I usually ask you if you have any food. I said I brought milk powder and biscuits for my children, so the customs didn't open the box for inspection. When returning home, the security check at American airports was stricter, because they didn't distinguish between domestic and international flights, and one person took out the milk powder for testing.

Third, the hotel.

Nowadays, compared with previous years, outbound tourism has to consider more political and security risks, especially Sino-US relations. Although we are ordinary people and have been to the United States several times before, frankly speaking, it is only this time that we pay more attention. Air tickets and hotels have been booked, so you can refund or cancel them. Shortly after booking the air ticket, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued a safety warning for going to the United States, alas! So I checked out the hotel first, but I didn't refund the ticket first. Anyway, it's my own China Eastern Airlines. It should be mentioned here that booking the first night hotel usually depends on the arrival date on the air ticket. When I booked the hotel again, I didn't notice the time difference in Hawaii. Shanghai flew for several hours, and the time went backwards 18 hours, so the hotel on the first night was booked for the next night. I called myself an old donkey and made this mistake. If Australia flies to Hawaii on the other side of the date line, the hotel can't book it last night or even the night before.

Here, I would like to recommend the Royal Grove Hotel in Waikiki. The location is super good. Turn left 20 meters after going out, and you will arrive at the famous Waikiki Beach. Transportation and shopping are very convenient. Although the decoration is average, it is equipped with a kitchen, which is very suitable for families with children. The price is reasonable, which is cheaper than the price of thousands of nights around.

Four. transport

I can't drive in Hawaii because of China's driver's license. Of course, the car rental company will not refuse to rent it to you, but once something goes wrong, it will be more troublesome. In addition, there is almost no public transportation on the island except Oahu, so driving on other islands is very risky unless you join a group or charter a car. Waikiki cable car is recommended in Oahu. This method is combined with the one-day pass.

Waikiki Electric Station is located on the first floor of Waikiki Avenue. You can buy a pass for one to seven days. During the validity period, you can take any five-color bus. There are double-deck and single-deck sightseeing buses. Half price for children and half price for your son 1.85m, which is quite satisfactory. Drivers will explain along the way, stop to take pictures, and some drivers will interact with tourists, such as singing, feeding birds with their children and so on.

The weather in Hawaii

If Hawaii is sunny, it is as good as Guangzhou and Sanya. But I can't feel the heat, mainly because the wind is strong (as can be seen from the flagpole below), which is relatively dry and people don't sweat much. You can't see anyone with an umbrella in the street. People are completely exposed to the sun. Occasionally there will be clouds, and some fog and rain in Mao Mao will soon pass. It feels great!

If you go to the northern end of Oahu, where there are world-famous surfing sites and celestial beaches, you can buy a bus card for bus No.52 or No.56, and the roast chicken in North Point tastes good.
