Introduction of Fenghuang Ancient City in Zhangjiajie

Zhangjiajie, located in the northwest of Hunan, in the middle and upper reaches of Lishui, belongs to the hinterland of Wuling Mountain. Formerly known as "Dayong City", a prefecture-level city in Hunan Province, it is one of the most important tourist cities in China and the birthplace and central area of the revolutionary base areas in Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing and Guizhou.

Zhangjiajie has become a key tourist city in China because of its tourism. Wulingyuan Scenic Area has a rare landform of seasonal sandstone peak forest canyon in the world. It consists of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzishan Nature Reserve, Suoxiyu Nature Reserve and Yang Jiajie, the first national forest park in China. The scenic area is 264.6 square kilometers. It is the first batch of world natural heritage, the first batch of geological parks in the world and the first batch of 5A-level tourist attractions in China. Tianmenshan National Forest Park, Gene Bank of World Rare Species, Badagong Mountain National Nature Reserve, Leo, Taoist Holy Land, Mao Yan, Wanfu Hot Spring, etc. It is also beautiful and unique. The former residence of He Long and the former site of the provincial party committee in the revolutionary base area of Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou are national key cultural relics protection units, and eight cultural relics such as Puguang Temple, Yuhuangdong Group and Laoyuanzi are provincial key cultural relics protection units.

Fenghuang Ancient City, located in the southwest of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, is on a par with Old Town of Lijiang in Yunnan and Pingyao Ancient City in Shanxi, enjoying the reputation of "Pingyao in the north and Phoenix in the south". It is a national historical and cultural city and a national AAAA-level scenic spot. Fenghuang ancient city is divided into old city and new city. The old city is surrounded by mountains and waters, and the shallow Tuojiang River passes through the city. The walls made of red sandstone stand on the shore, and ancient pagodas stand on both sides of Nanhua Mountain. These towers are still rusty iron gates in the Qing Dynasty. The real name of the North Gate Tower of Fenghuang Ancient City is "Bihuimen". There is a narrow wooden bridge across the wide river under the north gate, with stones as piers. Both have to pass sideways, which used to be the only way out of the city.
