1. Changchun Garden
Changchun Garden is located in Haidian District, Beijing, south of the Old Summer Palace and west of Peking University. The original site is the "Tsinghua Garden" built by Li Wei, the maternal grandfather of Ming Shenzong in the Ming Dynasty. There are landscape buildings in the park such as Qianhu Lake, Back Lake, Yihai Hall, Qingya Pavilion, Tingshuiyin, Huaju Pavilion and so on.
In the Qing Dynasty, the remaining water veins and rocks of Tsinghua Garden were used to build Changchun Garden on its old site, imitating the mountains and rivers of the south of the Yangtze River. It was used as a summer retreat in the suburbs to listen to government affairs.
The overall design of the garden landscape was carried out by the court painter Ye Tao. Jiangnan gardener Zhang Ran was hired to manage the mountains and waters. At the same time, he renovated the Wanquan River water system and introduced the river water into the garden. In order to prevent flooding, the West Embankment (today's East Embankment of the Summer Palace) was built to the west of the garden.
2. Chengde Mountain Resort
Chengde Mountain Resort, also known as "Chengde Palace" or "Rehe Palace", is located in the north of the center of Chengde, Hebei Province, on the narrow valley on the west bank of the Wulie River. , was the place where emperors of the Qing Dynasty spent summer vacations and handled government affairs.
The Summer Resort was first built in 1703 and took 89 years to complete after the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong dynasties of the Qing Dynasty. The Summer Resort adopts the style of a simple and elegant mountain village, takes the true nature of natural mountains and rivers, and absorbs the scenery of the south of the Yangtze River and the north of the Great Wall. It has become the largest ancient imperial palace in China.
3. Summer Palace
The Summer Palace, a royal garden during the Qing Dynasty in China, formerly known as Qingyi Garden, is located in the western suburbs of Beijing, fifteen kilometers away from the city, covering an area of ??about 290 square meters hectares, adjacent to the Old Summer Palace. It is based on Kunming Lake and Wanshou Mountain, and is modeled on Hangzhou West Lake.
A large landscape garden built based on the design techniques of Jiangnan gardens, it is also the most complete preserved royal palace garden. It is known as the "Royal Garden Museum" and is also a key national tourist attraction.
In the fifteenth year of Qianlong's reign (1750), Emperor Qianlong spent 4.48 million taels of silver to renovate this place into Qingyi Garden in order to honor his mother, Queen Xiaosheng. In the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860), Qingyi Garden was burned down by the British and French forces.
4. Cining Palace
Cining Palace in the Ming Dynasty was the residence of the imperial concubine of the previous generation. During the Wanli period, Empress Dowager Li, the Cisheng, and in the first year of Taichang (1620), Wanli Emperor Zheng Huang, Concubine Zhao and others lived here. In the seventh year of Tianqi (1627), Ming Xi Zong died, and his imperial concubines and others moved here.
In the 10th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1653), Empress Xiaozhuangwen first lived in Cining Palace. Since then, it has become the residence of the Empress Dowager and the Empress Dowager, together with the concubine and others. The early and middle Qing Dynasty was the prosperous period of Cining Palace.
The then Empress Xiaozhuang Wen and Empress Xiaoshengxian both lived here successively. The three emperors Shunzhi, Kangxi and Qianlong were famous for their filial piety, and Cining Palace often held birthday celebrations for the Queen Mother.
5. Yangyuanzhai, the three characters "Yangyuanzhai" were inscribed by Emperor Qianlong. There is a meeting hall and banquet hall inside. The banquet hall is splendid and resplendent. There is a calligraphy copy of Emperor Qianlong's grandson hanging in the hall, which reads, "You embrace the spring stone and enjoy your happiness in the mulberry trees." It is now an important place for our party and state leaders to hold important foreign affairs activities.
