Origin of the place name

"Heze" was originally a natural ancient swamp, which was collected by Jishui River. It has been buried for a long time. The ruins are 15 kilometers southeast of Heze City. The name of the county after water began in the 13th year of Yongzheng (1735). Caozhou was promoted to a prefecture, and Guo County was attached to it, and it was named Heze. Since then, "Heze" has been used as a proper name for a county, city, and district. In August 1949, Pingyuan Province was established, and the northwest part of the territory was designated as Heze Prefecture, which governs Heze County. Since then, "Heze" has become a regional or regional name.
