Guam (gua Han/ Guam's territory) is an island in the western Pacific Ocean, an overseas territory of the United States and an unconstitutional territory of the United States. Guam is an island at the southern tip of the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean, with latitude13 30' north and longitude144 45' east. It covers an area of 549 square kilometers. Population 158000(2002), Chamorro people account for the vast majority. Algana, the capital, is located in the west of the island. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north. The blue mountain in the southwest is the highest peak, with an altitude of 407 meters. The west coast is a fertile plain, and the island is obviously divided into two parts.
