Tourism development of Zaoshi reservoir

Zaoshi Water Conservancy Scenic Area is rich in cultural tourism resources besides the natural scenery based on Zaoshi Water Conservancy Project.

Zaoshi Reservoir has a long history and splendid culture. There are two famous sites of ancient culture in China. One is the Yan 'erdong ape-man cave site, where a large number of animal fossils associated with human beings, such as china rhino and saber-toothed elephant teeth, have been unearthed, belonging to the late Neolithic cultural site; One is the Neolithic site of Zaoshi. Most of the unearthed cultural relics are stone tools. These cultural relics have a history of more than 7000 years, which is earlier than Banpo culture and Hemudu culture in Xi 'an. This is one of the earliest Neolithic cultures discovered in China. In recent years, the ruins of the ancient city of Warring States were discovered near Weixin Town in the upper reaches of the reservoir area. At that time, it was a border town with military nature.

At present, there are ***30 cultural relics below the submerged line of Zaoshi Reservoir, including 24 ancient sites, 4 ancient tombs (burials) and 2 ancient city sites, accounting for about 28% of the county's cultural relics units. From the Paleolithic Age to the Han and Jin Dynasties about 30,000-40,000 years ago, it lasted for a long time, especially since the Neolithic Age (4000 years ago), and there was no missing link in the middle, which is of great value to the study of the cultural history of the Yangtze River basin.
