Russia's North Caucasus

The location of Chechnya * * * Republic on the map, Chechnya * * * Republic is located in Russia's North Caucasus, and its capital is Grozny. Chechnya covers an area of 17,3 square kilometers, about the size of Beijing, but its population is only 1.26 million. They mainly believe in Islam, and the ethnic group is mainly Chechen, accounting for 93.47%, and they have their own language.

In the Russian Federation, Chechnya is an exception, with different races, nationalities, religions and languages. As the saying goes, since Chechnya is different from Russia in many ways, it wanted to be as independent as other countries after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, but it was resolutely opposed by Russia. During this period, two Chechen wars broke out, and eventually it was suppressed by Russian military force because of the disparity in military strength.

The earliest record of Chechnya was before the beginning of the 7th century. The term "Chechen" originated from the name of the village "Greater Chechnya" by the argon River, and gradually became the ethnic name of Chechen people. Chechens call themselves "Nakheqiao people", which means "common people". Chechens were invaded by Mongols-Tatars in the 13th century, and were ravaged by Timur Imperial Army in Central Asia at the end of 14th century. It was not until the disintegration of the Golden Account Khanate in the 15th and 16th centuries that Chechens began to migrate from the mountains to the plains. From 16th to 19th century, Islam began to be introduced into Chechnya.

at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, Chechnya began to be the object of three empires: Persia, Ottoman and Russia. Since then, Chechnya has experienced more than two centuries of war. Since the invasion of the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century, the Chechen people have been constantly resisting foreign invasion in the Caucasus mountains. Since joining the Muslim camp, it has eased the tension with the Ottoman Empire, but the conflict with Christians, Cossacks and Buddhists has escalated.

For Chechens themselves, they didn't call themselves Chechnya at first, but called themselves "Nakhichi" or "Nakhichi". In Chechen, this word means "our land" or "people on the land".

Although there is no clear statement about the origin of Chechens, there is a widely spread legend of ethnic origin among Chechens: It is said that a long time ago, an Arab named Ali fled to the North Caucasus because of a felony. Here, Ali, an Arab, married and had children with the local people, and began to live and reproduce. His descendants were called Nahqi.

Ali, an Arab, is very talented. He is not only courageous, but also witty and flexible, so he is popular with the local people, and many mountain people begin to follow him. With the growing power, Ali's descendants finally led the local mountain people from the mountains to the coastal plains, and gradually formed a big nation, which is Chechens. According to this legend, Ali, an Arab, is the ancestor of Chechens.
