Overview of Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery

Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery is located in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing. Outside the Zhonghua Gate in Nanjing, there is a hill about 60 meters high and 2 kilometers wide. The mountain has beautiful scenery and lush pines and cypresses. According to historical records, Master Guang Yun, a monk, set up an altar here in the early years of Nanliang. Because of its wonderful content, it touched the Buddha, and flowers fell like rain in the sky in an instant, hence the name "Yuhuatai".

Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery is the largest memorial cemetery in New China. With the martyrs' sculptures, memorial halls and monuments as the main memorial buildings, 1988 was rated as the national key cultural relics protection unit, the first batch of 4A-level tourist areas in 2000, and the national patriotic education demonstration base in 2005. It was selected into the List of National Red Tourism Classic Scenic Spots and became an important part of the National Red Tourism Development Plan for 2004-20 10.

During the Kuomintang rule, thousands of * * * producers and revolutionaries were killed here. After the founding of New China, in order to commemorate the martyrs, this martyrs cemetery covering an area of 1.438+04 square kilometers was built on Yuhuatai.
