A criss-crossing and closely woven irrigation ancient canal system covering Ningxia Plain has been gradually formed, creating a rich and splendid "frontier fortress south of the Yangtze River", which has promoted the transformation of Ningxia Plain from nomadic civilization to farming civilization and the integration and development of different cultures. It has long been the foundation of regional socio-economic development and oasis ecological environment stability, and has important strategic significance for the political and economic stability of northwest China.

The world irrigation engineering heritage, world cultural heritage, natural heritage and agricultural cultural heritage are collectively called world heritage, which is a world heritage project selected by the International Irrigation and Drainage Committee from 20 14. Its selection standard is strict, and it must meet the needs of irrigation and drainage engineering in the building age of 100, and it is ahead of the times in engineering design and construction technology. At present, the existing 10 stations in Zheng Guoqu, Shaanxi and Dongfeng weir, Sichuan have been successfully declared.
