It is said that a long time ago, a nearby farmer went up the mountain to cut wood and met the Eight Immortals who were playing chess on a boulder called Chessboard Stone at the top of the mountain. He stood by and watched, forgot to chop wood, and didn't go home until sunset, only to find that his family was full of children and grandchildren, only to know that he had met a fairy and hurried up the mountain, but the fairy was long gone, so he practiced on the mountain and later became a fairy. Therefore, this legend is widely circulated. Today, there is a folk proverb that "seven days on the mountain, a hundred years on earth"; There is also a saying that during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, the founder monk Zou cultivated immortals in the nature room, which coincided with the gathering of neighboring caves and became the Nine Immortals. "The mountain is not high, but there is a fairy, so it is named", and the name of Jiuxian Mountain is roughly based on this.
