There are more than 1,000 small islands in the Zhoushan Archipelago, most of which are independent islands. If they are connected to the land, they are not called islands, but peninsulas.

Xihoumen Bridge is a super-large cross-sea bridge with the highest technical requirements among the five cross-sea bridges in the Zhoushan Island Link Project that connects the main island of Zhoushan to Ningbo. The main bridge is a two-span continuous semi-floating steel box girder suspension bridge with a main span of 1,650 meters. It currently ranks second in the world and first in China in terms of suspension bridges. Among them, the total length of the steel box girder ranks first in the world. The design navigation grade is 30,000 tons and the service life is 100 years. The bridge has the advantages of high technical difficulty, many scientific and technological innovations, and high wind resistance.
