The Chaotian Palace in Beigang is a Mazu Tempel with a long history. In the thirty-third year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1694 AD), Lin Jizong and other thirty-four generations of high-hating trees crossed the sea from Meizhou, Fujian Province to Taiwan, stayed in Bengang and set up a temple. First, Mao 'an was temporarily sacrificed, and in the eighth year of Yongzheng (173 AD), it was rebuilt with gold, and it was easy to build Mao, laying the foundation for future scale.
During the Daoguang period, the abbot Ruihe raised money to rebuild it. Wang Delu, the prefect of Fujian Navy, felt Mazu's blessing and presented a plaque of "Sea-sky coffin" and a drum and a Brahma bell to show his respect. He also invited Emperor Daoguang to seal a plaque, and the "Virgin of Heaven" began to see official documents, thus making the Chaotian Palace the center of Mazu belief in Taiwan.
In the fourth year of Xianfeng, Cai Ruzhang, the discipline supervisor of Chiayi County, specially awarded Wang Chaolun, a grain storage road in ten counties of Jiang 'an, to return to Taiwan to persuade rice, which was a proposal to rebuild the temples.

The district head Cai Ranbiao was aiming at the reconstruction of local gentlemen, and was supported by Dali of Wuchang Fu, the branch office of Beigang. The donations came from all over Taiwan, and the names were engraved on the stone railings around, including Banqiao Linbenyuan Family, Taipei Dadaocheng, Haishanbao Dayao Street, Hsinchu Street, Hsinchu.
In March of the 1th year of the Republic of China, the management committee was established in Chaotian Palace, and Cai Ranbiao, the head of Beigang District, was appointed as the manager.
