Tourists in China, Iceland witnessed the car accident: the old driver was driving to eat.
On Wednesday (27th), local time, a tourist bus carrying a number of overseas students from China in Iceland overturned, killing one China and seriously injuring 12 others. A female tourist from China, wang xing, recalled afterwards that it was suspected that the old tourist bus, the lack of seat belts and the driver's eating while driving caused the accident.
At that time, she was sitting in the last row of the tour bus and sleeping in the bus. Before the accident, she suddenly felt the car body shake three or four times and then rolled over, and then someone suddenly shouted. She was immediately awakened and found that the glass on the car was broken, some people were injured by the broken glass, and others flew out of the car.
At least three of the five tourists don't have seat belts, probably because the tourist bus is too old and the number of seat belts on the bus is insufficient. Even if the tourists wore seat belts, the vehicle made an emergency turn at the time of the incident, and the impact force caused the seat belts to break, and many tourists were thrown out of the car and injured. Another tourist saw the driver eating while driving, and there were vehicles in front of him that violated the rules. As a result, the tourist bus couldn't avoid it, and because there was ice on the road and it was slippery, the tourist bus finally hit the front car and then rolled over.
After the incident, drivers and passengers of other vehicles on the road, as well as police and local people, rushed to the rescue. China tourists in the car immediately contacted the Embassy of China. "The Embassy contacted the rescuers and the helicopter will arrive soon.". Rescuers sent the seriously injured tourists to large local hospitals, while the slightly injured passengers were sent to other hospitals. "We stayed outside for about 4 minutes, found another car and took us to the nearest rescue station nearby."
At present, the Embassy of China in Iceland has contacted the families of all China citizens who were seriously injured, actively provided necessary insurance assistance, and coordinated the relevant departments of China and Iceland to facilitate the families of the injured to go to the ice as soon as possible. The Embassy of China in Iceland said that it would continue to closely follow the development of the situation, and urged the ice police to investigate the cause of the accident as soon as possible, and urged the relevant travel agencies to properly do the follow-up work. The Embassy once again reminds citizens who have recently gone to China to take precautions against bad weather and ensure personal and traffic safety.
