Introduction to Huangguoshu Waterfall

Huangguoshu Waterfall, also known as Huangguoshu Waterfall. In ancient times, it was called Baishuihe Waterfall, also known as "Huanggeshu" Waterfall or "Huangjueshu" Waterfall. It was named after the "Huanggeshu" waterfall that is widely distributed in the local area.

Located in Zhenning Buyi and Miao Autonomous County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, China, it belongs to the Pearl River water system, the main stream of the Xijiang River, the tributary of the Nanpanjiang River, the tributary of the Beipanjiang River, the tributary of the Dabang River, the tributary of the Kebu River, and the lower reaches of the Baishui River. It is the Huangguoshu Waterfall Group. It is the largest first-level waterfall in China and one of the world's famous waterfalls.

The Huangguoshu Waterfall became famous since the Ming Dynasty traveler Xu Xiake. It has become a well-known scenic spot after being traveled and spread by celebrities in the past dynasties.

The morphological characteristics of Huangguoshu Waterfall:

Huangguoshu Waterfall is located on the Baishui section of the Tapang River Basin. The river flows from north to south and reaches Huangguoshu. At that time, a large longitudinal slope crack appeared in the river bed, forming Huangguoshu Waterfall.

After passing through the waterfall, the water circles around an approximately semicircular arc to the west, with a chord length of 500 meters and a protrusion of 300 meters to the west. It reaches the screw beach head below the water scraper and resumes the flow direction from north to south. The waterfall is 101 meters wide and 77.8 meters high.

The waterfall cascades into Rhinoceros Pond, and the water flows through Sandaotan, Horseshoe Beach, Zhulongtan, Youyujing, Guoditang, Wantang, and Maoshui Pond.

Behind the waterfall, there is a 134-meter-long water curtain cave that cuts across the middle of the waterfall. It is composed of 6 cave windows, 5 cave halls, 3 cave springs and 6 passages.

Watching the waterfall from the Shuilian Cave is thrilling. The water curtain cave under such a spectacular waterfall is rare among waterfalls around the world.
