Brief introduction of Tongli ancient town

Tongli Town, one of the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River, was originally named "Futu", which was changed to Tongli in the early Tang Dynasty and Tongli in the Song Dynasty. Founded in the Song Dynasty, it has a history of over 20 15 years and is an ancient cultural town in China. Tongli Town is located in Wujiang District, Suzhou City, which is 18km away from Suzhou City and 80km away from Shanghai.

Tongli, with an area of 33 hectares, is surrounded by five lakes and connected by 49 bridges. The reticulated river divides the town into seven islands. In the ancient town, every family faces the water and every family has a boat; Bridges in Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties are well preserved. 1982 became the earliest and only ancient town in Jiangsu province that took the whole town as a cultural relic protection unit. 1995 is listed as the first batch of famous historical and cultural towns in Jiangsu province.
