Tourist friends:

Hello everyone! First of all, I would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone for visiting Meihua Mountain! I hope that everyone will gain more from the outing and enjoy the plum blossoms and leave beautiful memories.

"Spring is the beginning of the year, and plum blossoms are the chief among all flowers." As the first of the four gentlemen, plum blossoms have been loved by literati since ancient times. Among the eight major plum blossom viewing spots in my country, Meihua Mountain located in the Ming Xiaoling Scenic Area is the leader in terms of the history, scale, quantity, and variety of plum planting, as well as its rich natural and cultural accumulation, so it is known as "the world's most popular place for plum blossom appreciation". "The First Plum Mountain".

Meihua Mountain, also known as Sunlinggang, is where the tomb of Sun Quan, the Great Emperor of the Eastern Wu Dynasty, is located. According to records, plum blossoms have a history of 2,500 years in our country. Plum blossom cultivation in Nanjing flourished in the Southern Dynasties. Legend has it that Princess Shouyang, the beloved daughter of Emperor Wu of the Southern Song Dynasty, was lying under the eaves of Hanzhang Palace one day. Plum blossoms fell on her forehead, forming five blossoms that could not be brushed away. They called her "Plum Blossom Makeup" and all the palace ladies imitated her. This shows that more than 1,500 years ago, during the Liu and Song Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties, plum planting and admiring plum blossoms became popular in Nanjing.

Since then, Nanjing people’s custom of planting and appreciating plum blossoms has continued throughout the generations. By the Ming Dynasty, a plum blossom viewing resort appeared at the foot of Zijin Mountain called Meihuawu

During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Feng Mengzhen, a wine worshiper at Nanjing Imperial College, wrote in "The Exploration of Plum Blossoms in Linggu Temple": "Go beyond Linggu Temple to the east for about two miles, go north for a hundred steps, and reach the foot of Meihuawu. Its location should be southeast of Linggu Temple. Meihuawu is a palace of the Ming Dynasty. A plum garden was set up, and the plums produced were used in the Imperial Ancestral Temple to worship the emperor's ancestors. On each plum tree was hung a wooden plaque with the word "imperial" written on it. The criminal laws of the Ming Dynasty were strict, and no one dared to climb branches and break flowers, so the plum blossoms flourished. No less than a thousand plants

In the early 1930s, the then Prime Minister’s Cemetery Management Committee designated the Sunlinggang area as the rose flower area of ??the Prime Minister’s Memorial Botanical Garden, and began to plant plum trees on a larger scale. On the eve of the eve, the plum trees here became more and more lush, and when the plum blossoms were in full bloom, there was an endless stream of tourists. The name of Sunlinggang gradually evolved into Meihua Mountain in the minds of the people.

Plum Blossom Mountain is located in the Ming Dynasty. The Xiaoling Scenic Area is naturally closely related to the Xiaoling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty. From a geographical point of view, the two are intertwined and inseparable. The Shinto of the Xiaoling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty is different from the Shinto of the imperial tombs of previous dynasties. It is not a straight line, but a zigzag. According to records, when Zhu Yuanzhang was building the mausoleum, he said: "Sun Quan is also a good man, so just keep him as a gatekeeper for me." So he bypassed Meihua Mountain when building the mausoleum shrine. Not only has this geomantic treasure been preserved, but it has also created Meihua Mountain, which is now filled with fragrant snow and a sea of ??tourists.
