This ship is a large-tonnage and modern new guided missile destroyer designed and built by China. According to the British "Jane's Battleship Yearbook", the ship has a total length of 153 meters and a width of 16.5 meters, with a standard displacement of 5,000 tons and a full displacement of 6,600 tons. It is driven by two shafts with a maximum speed of over 30 knots. It is equipped with modern advanced weapons such as anti-ship missiles, ship-to-air missiles, anti-submarine homing torpedoes and automatic artillery, as well as new equipment such as air-to-sea search radar, long-range warning radar, navigation radar, fire control radar, hull sonar, variable depth sonar, operational command system and electronic warfare system, and also equipped with ship-borne helicopters, which have strong comprehensive combat capabilities against the sea, air defense and anti-submarine.

Since 1999 was officially listed, Shenzhen has been inspected by state leaders and leaders of the Central Military Commission for many times and completed major military exercises for many times.

At the same time, the ship is also known as China's "diplomatic star ship". This visit to Japan is also the seventh visit (docking) of the ship, setting a record for the largest number of visits (docking) by the people's navy. Up to now, "Shenzhen" has sailed to the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean, and visited Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, Germany, Britain, Italy, France, India, South Africa, Singapore, Guam and Hong Kong 15 countries and regions, making it the most frequently visited warship of the China Navy. The countries and regions visited are also outstanding among the people's naval vessels, creating a number of firsts in China's naval foreign exchanges.
