People in Changzhou used to burn earth stoves. On March 3rd, write a red note on red paper, which reads "No ants climbing mountains on March 3rd" and stick it upside down on the stove foot, thinking that ants can be driven away and prohibited from climbing on the stove. Legend has it that March 3rd is the birthday of ants. While pasting red paper, the head nurse (housewife) will burn 36 gold ingots with yellow thread to show respect for ants. Since then, the ants have obediently gone up the mountain elsewhere. In this way, the agricultural proverb "March 3, ants go up the mountain" was extended.

There are Yangshan and Xueyan Nanshan between Changzhou and Wuxi. On March 3, these two places have the traditional custom of temple fairs. The people around Xueyan climbed to the top of Nanshan Mountain and burned incense in Nanshan Temple.
