What is the role of trade unions?

Trade unions, also known as labor federations and workers' federations. The original meaning of trade unions refers to social groups organized spontaneously based on common interests.

While safeguarding the overall interests of the people across the country, trade unions represent and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of employees.

The general legal nature of a trade union is a corporate legal person. The All-China Federation of Trade Unions, local federations of trade unions, and industrial trade unions have the legal person status of social organizations. If a grassroots trade union organization meets the legal person conditions stipulated in the general principles of civil law, the "Trade Union Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Measures for the Registration of Legal Person Qualifications of Grassroots Trade Unions", it shall obtain the legal person status of a social organization in accordance with the law. Trade union organizations with legal person status shall independently enjoy civil rights and bear civil obligations in accordance with the law.
