Travel routes and times of Hainan Bicycle Strategy
Cycling around Hainan Island is full of temptations and challenges for many young people. Cycling on the beautiful seaside is indeed refreshing, but it also requires a certain amount of physical strength. After all, Hainan Island’s coastline is still very long. Here are detailed strategies for riding around the island.
A circle around Hainan Island is about 900km, and taking the middle line is almost 800km. The eastern and western routes are relatively flat, not long in mileage, and not very difficult.
Moreover, in Hainan in winter, the temperature is suitable, the scenery is beautiful, there are many delicious foods, and the prices are warm. Who can give up?
Route selection
There are only two routes around Hainan Island: the east route and the west route completely surround Hainan Island and are also true island circles, suitable for obsessive-compulsive riders. The east route is the Tour de France from my route map above. Walking through central Hainan back to the starting point. Of course, you can also choose the teasing tour of the western route. I'm optimistic about you!
Route recommendation
Eastern route: Hainan’s elite route, with beautiful scenery, close to the sea, and the opportunity to ride along the coastal section. There are many large towns along the route, making supplies easy.
Middle route: Different in style from the eastern route, there is no sea view, only tropical rainforest. It requires climbing all the way up. The difficulty level is the hardest of the three lines, but the distance is shorter.
Western Route: The scenery is the same as that of the Eastern Route, but the sea view is not as beautiful as the Eastern Route. It is tasteless, but it can satisfy the sense of achievement and completion of circling the island.
Personal suggestion: If you have obsessive-compulsive disorder, just choose the eastern or western route and you won’t have to look back.
I'm riding the east and middle lines. It goes without saying that the characteristics of the eastern and central lines are clear at a glance. I just want to see more different scenery. And mid-line climbing can also pave the way for long distances later. Long distances without climbing are rare, so I had to overcome my fear of mountains.
Bring a car or rent a car?
By car: For me, there is no concept of renting a car. Riding your own bike is always the best, so you don’t have to spend time getting used to it. Moreover, Che, like his comrades, also has emotions. Imagine the road you will travel in the future, and this car will help you recall it. If one day you stop riding, hang it on the wall and it will be filled with memories, which means you can't make up for it by renting a car.
Renting a car: Apart from the hassle of packing and shipping, there are basically no advantages. Suitable for friends who just want to experience the fun of riding and don’t want to ride for a long time in the future.
How to get to Hainan Island by car?
Train: When I went to Hainan Island, the front wheel of the bicycle could be removed and put on directly. It used to be a good time, but now it's basically not feasible. The safest way to take the train is to check in your bicycle with China Railway Express at the train station. It should be noted that you need to check the arrival time of the consignment, sometimes it will be one day in advance. Be careful not to affect the rest of the journey.
Airplane: Airplane is the most commonly used mode of transportation. Although the price is relatively expensive, normal airlines are friendly to checked bicycles. First, you need to go to a bike shop to pack your bike. Generally, you can buy a carton for 10 yuan, and the packaging fee is within 30 yuan. When checking in, you have to navigate a bulky luggage aisle to get on the plane. It's free if you don't exceed the check-in amount, and you'll arrive at your destination at the same time as everyone else.
Of course, it is also possible to encounter abnormal airlines, such as many low-cost airlines, such as AirAsia. Most do not come with a baggage allowance. Even if there were, his luggage allowance would not allow him to check in a bicycle. Consignments of sports equipment need to be purchased separately, such as China Southern Airlines, which has very strict size requirements. We should try our best to avoid it. Among my airlines, such as Air China, Sichuan Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Dragonair, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, Czech Airlines, etc.
To form a team or to walk alone
To form a team: Since I am a newbie, I still strongly recommend teaming up. Hainan is a popular route, so it is relatively easy to form a team. We can take care of each other and take photos of each other along the way. If everyone has the same interests, we will naturally be richer
Just kidding, it was the first time I was forced to walk a long distance alone because my companion had a disabled knee the next day and had to take a bus to the destination to wait for me every day. At that time, I didn’t know how to patch a tire, so I walked all the way and found that riding alone was not as difficult as I thought.
Light or heavy
Traveling lightly: This is a style I stick to, making riding easier and easier. The energy and time saved can be spent on playing. The disadvantage is that it costs a little more to stay in the store all the time, so you have to make a plan every day, find a place to stay, and get to your destination before dark. Suitable for short-distance travel or areas with low prices.
Reloading: more casual, happy-go-lucky, with the greatest degree of freedom. You can save on accommodation costs. You won’t have to worry about finding a place to live, but you’ll have to carry more weight. Harder to ride, especially uphill. You’ll also need to take the time to find a suitable camping spot. It requires a certain amount of outdoor knowledge and ability, and is suitable for long-distance travel or areas with higher prices.
My opinion: Hainan Island does not need tents and boilers at all. There are sufficient supplies along the way and the accommodation cost is low. Now the industrial chain around the island is gradually improving, and there are 517 youth hostels in big cities along the road. Even if you stay in an ordinary hotel, the per capita cost is only 50 yuan. Why do you have to carry your luggage so hard? You are not traveling around China or the world.
Only when you are not burdened by the burden of luggage can you have more energy to experience the scenery and culture on the road, truly enjoy the ride, and enjoy the journey happily!
About the cost
: My 10-day trip was by plane and the return trip was by train. We stayed in a hotel, including day trips, diving, and all other food, accommodation, and transportation expenses, but the cost was only 2,800 yuan. The time spans the Spring Festival, so the price is a little higher than usual. Of course, the expenses are very generous and frugal, for reference only.
I write down my itinerary below for your reference.
D1: Haikou 517-Lingshan Town-Sanjiang Town-Tanniu Town-Wenchang City-Qinglan Town is about 95km
The first day is destined to be exciting, so the scenery is about the same No problem. The only difficulty is learning to use navigation to find the correct route and ride out of the unfamiliar Haikou city. Next comes the first day of getting used to riding. Also, don’t miss the coconut stalls on the roadside.
D2: Qinglan Town - Dongjiao Coconut Grove - Wenchang City - Huiwen Town - Changpo Town - Qionghai City - Boao Town, the whole distance is 124km
I chose to live in Dongjiao yesterday Coconut Grove or Qinglan Town. I chose to live in Qinglan Town, where you can already eat Wenchang Chicken. Don't miss it. In the morning we set out for the coconut grove in the eastern suburbs and took a detour, so we walked an extra 20 kilometers.
I passed by the seaside for the first time today. The painting style may not be the same as I imagined, but the gray sea and rough waves on the beach are enough to excite mainland children.
If you can reach Boao this morning, you can enjoy the bolder Boao Sea.
D3: Boao - Longgun Town - Hele Town - Wanning City - Xinglong Town, the total distance is about 102km
Go to see Boao Sea in the morning. The waves are very powerful and suitable for taking photos to show off.
On the road, after passing Boao Temple, turn left and there is a bridge. At the end of the bridge, turn right and there is Cai's residence! It’s up to you whether you choose to visit this place or not.
Before going to Wanning, if the season is right, you can see large pineapple plantations. This is the first time I have seen pineapples living on trees.
Finally, the coffee and hot springs in Xinglong Town are worth a try.
D4: Xinglong Town-Qiaonan Town-Guangpo Town-Lingshui County-Sancai Town-Haitang Bay-Tiandu Town-Sanya City, total distance 132km
Today’s ride The start was a bit difficult as instead of being a flat road or a road with little undulations, mountains started to appear.
Before entering Sanya, you will come to a crossroads. Go straight to Tiandu Town and Sanya City, turn right to Wuzhishan City, and turn left to Yalong Bay. If you have enough time, you can turn into Yalong Bay.
You can hang out in Sanya at night, eat seafood and watch the night view.
D5: Take a day of rest
When you arrive in Sanya, it is recommended to take at least one day to experience the customs of Sanya.
There are two choices on this day. First, if you still want to ride, you can ride around Sanya. After riding to the ends of the earth, you can return to the city. It is recommended to ride the Coconut Dream Corridor, which goes all the way along the coast. The scenery is great. You can go to the beach and be in contact with the sea at any time. Route: Fenghuang Road - Fenghuang Town - Tianya Haijiao - Sanya Bay - Coconut Dream Corridor - Dadonghai - Luhuitou, about 55km.
Another option is to sign up for a day trip, such as going to Wuzhizhou to play in the water. The quality of the sea water is excellent, so you can spend a day relaxing and playing in the water. You can also sign up for a one-day diving tour to experience cha
D6: Sanya City - Tiandu Town - Sandao Town - Xinzheng Town - Xiangshui Town - Wuzhishan City, the total distance is 87km
Today, you need to climb three mountains. Of course, if you climb, you go down. Don't be timid, just ride!
The style of painting on the road began to change from seascape to mountainscape. You will pass two scenic spots on the way, Betel Valley and Yanoda Rainforest. If you can't get in, you can visit on your own. When rock climbing in Hainan Island, you need to pay attention to avoid the heat, rest more, and bring enough water.
D7: Wuzhishan City--Maoyang Town--Hongmao Town--Qiongzhong County Total distance: 76km
After yesterday's ride, you can already appreciate the mountain riding road of hardship. Keep working hard today, the theme is still uphill and downhill. Fortunately, the distance is not long.
In addition to seeing mountains and forests on the way, there are also two scenic spots: Wuzhishan Mountain View Platform and Baisha Uprising Memorial Park. If you arrive in Qiongzhong early, you can take a bus to Baihualing.
010-10:10, complete the island tour in one day. Today there are a lot less hills. One thing to note in Hainan Island is that there are no toll booths on the highways and they are unmanned. Don't make mistakes.
The scenery on the road today may be a bit tiring, and there are not many scenic spots to miss. Go straight to Haikou and get the results of circling the island.
D8: The total length of Qiongzhong-Tunchang County-Haikou is 135km
I mainly went to three places in Haikou: Qilou Old Street, Hainan University, and Binhai Avenue.
If you choose to take the train, you can ride along the coastal avenue to the train station to check in your luggage.
It was the first time in Hainan that I learned that trains can also be taken by boat. It was amazing.
This trip around Hainan Island is also over. If you don’t know, please pay attention!
Note: The novices in this article refer to cyclists who have no long-distance riding experience, rather than pure 360 ??kryptonite novices who do not ride at all or just commute on bicycles.
For the latter, before planning a long-distance trip, it is recommended to participate in several outings with local cyclists to ensure that you have the experience of riding more than 100km one-way.
