The Tangshan Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University is located in the Nanhu Kailuan 4A-level tourist scenic spot in Tangshan, Hebei.

Southwest Jiaotong University, referred to as "Southwest Jiaotong University", is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China. It was first built by Railway Group Co., Ltd., Sichuan Provincial People's Government and Chengdu Municipal People's Government; ranked among the "Double First-Class" and "211 Project".

The school began as the Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway Official School in 1896. Since then, it has moved to different locations and changed its name several times. It is famous at home and abroad as Tangshan Jiaotong University, and is known as the "Cornell of the East."

In 1952, the departments of colleges and universities across the country were restructured and the name was changed to Tangshan Railway University. In 1960, it became a national key university with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1964, the school moved to Emei, and in 1972 it was named Southwest Jiaotong University.

Faculty:

As of May 2023, the school currently has more than 2,700 full-time teachers, including 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (including 8 dual-appointed academicians) and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. 17 people (including 15 dual-employed academicians), and more than 100 people selected for the National High-Level Talent Plan.

There is 1 National Natural Science Foundation of China innovation group, 6 Ministry of Education innovation teams, 8 national-level teaching teams, and 7 national-level famous teaching teachers. In addition, nearly 50 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Engineering and Nobel Prize winners have been hired as part-time (honorary) professors.
