Keyhole sewing tutorial video

1. Unlike machine sewing, hand sewing buttonholes are cut first and then sewn. First, cut the buttonhole to the required width. Then operate the hand sewing needle as shown in the figure and start sewing the first needle. You can choose the starting position at will, but be careful that the stitches are not too long, otherwise it will be ugly, and the stitch length should be kept at about 0.2 cm. Thread the needle through the tightened thread.

2. Then wrap the needle and thread counterclockwise above the buttonhole, and then sew the second needle as shown in the figure. The distance between the second needle and the first needle is also about 0.2 cm, and the stitches with the same length as the first needle should be maintained.

3. Tighten the thread. Next, just repeat the second step and sew one by one along the edge of the buttonhole.

4. When sewing to the corner, sew into a fan shape as shown in the figure, which will make the outer edge of the whole buttonhole oval and more beautiful.

At the end of a stitch, you will find that the stitch of the first stitch is oblique, which is very ugly. At this time, all you need to do is put your hand into the first needle and hook it. The purpose is to make the first needle perpendicular to the buttonhole edge and form a connection with the last needle. After such treatment, the button can't see the starting and ending place.

6. Finally, thread the needle from the buttonhole to the back, sew an inverted needle on the fabric next to the buttonhole on the back (the stitch should not be exposed from the front), and then tie the knot and cut the thread.
