National key cultural relics protection unit---Dashuijing Ancient Building Group

On December 25, 2004, we drove from Lichuan City along the renovated and upgraded Lichuan We followed the (Jie) Road to Dashuijing Village, Baiyangba Town, and visited the Dashuijing Ancient Building Group, a national key cultural relic protection unit that has been declared as a national cultural village by the Provincial Department of Construction.

As the car drove through the winding asphalt roads in the mountains, the Christmas snowflakes seemed to carry the greetings of Jesus, tapping the car windows, and the coldness of the midwinter was lifted by the longing surging in the heart. Looking as far as the eye can see, there are silver snakes dancing in the mountains, wax figures dancing in the mountains, and large wells in the snow. What kind of meaning should they have?

Li's Manor

The symphony of Tujia folk houses

Dashuijing is located in Mangmang, Baiyangba Town, Lichuan City, the birthplace of "Dragon Boat Diao" Among the mountains. The entire building complex consists of three parts: Li Liangqing Manor, Li Ancestral Hall, and Li Gaiwu Manor. It is like a trilogy played by Tujia suona, wooden flute, leaf flute, gongs and drums and Western trombone, interpreting the honor and disgrace of a family. , solidified the architectural cultural history of a nation.

Snow is still flying all over the sky in front of us. Li Liangqing Manor looks particularly quiet and solemn against the backdrop of the white dense cliffs of Longqiao. Along the spacious bluestone road, climbing up the stairs, you will see the angled roof of the Chaomen verandah and the four characters "Green Lotus Beauty" hanging high on the lintel. Li Bai is his ancestor. Li's status is impressive. It is magnificent and full of cultural connotations. The front yard of the manor is even more extraordinary and creative. The 200-square-meter courtyard is paved with flat bluestones of uniform specifications. The front porch has European-style square columns, thick and straight arches, exquisite carvings, and gorgeous sculptures. The hanging-leg carved beams and painted buildings on both sides can be described as unique ingenuity, a combination of Chinese and Chinese, and a combination of Chinese and Western styles. From the central axis of the manor, there are three main halls arranged from front to back and from bottom to top, which are the main body of the building. The buildings on both sides are connected, with densely covered patios, one room and one scene, echoing each other and creating a myriad of atmospheres. The most distinctive architectural patterns of "Zou Ma Zhuanjiao Tower", "One Column and Six Beams", and "One Column and Nine Beams" are highly praised and borrowed by the construction industry. Its decorative art is also dazzling. The intricately carved column bases, exquisitely carved window lattice, strangely shaped columns, winding corridors, and exquisite and luxurious furnishings make the entire manor magnificent but not tacky. Above the door of the European-style building are written the four characters "Yeshao Longmen", and the three characters "Dafu Di" are written in the horizontal frame below. Entering it is like entering a palace of art. On the right side of the central hall is the flower hall, and on the left is the accounting room. The couplets on both sides of the word "forbearance" in the Danchi are: New knowledge is cultivated and deepened, and old learning is discussed and refined. There are wells in the front hall, middle hall, and back hall. They go up, down, left, and right along the patio, rising one by one, with interconnecting corridors. The colorful towers are winding and high, and the entire courtyard can be seen, and there are several doors for entry and exit. The window lattice in the courtyard has carvings and stone scenes, which are lifelike and ingenious. The fireproof pool in the courtyard is either square or round, carved or carved, and is integrated into one.

Yang Rui, administrator of the Cultural Management Office, said that the manor covers an area of ??more than 4,000 square meters, with 24 patios and 174 houses. Coincidentally, no iron nails are used, wooden frames are used, and the cloisters and colorful eaves are stilted buildings. According to "Feng Shui", "Bagua" and geographical conditions, they are interlocking, mutually dependent, and complementary to each other. The layout is arbitrary and just right. And there is no lack of rigor. On rainy days, you can go to every room in the manor without getting your feet wet. From the late Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, this place was built many times from east to west, integrating the architectural style characteristics of different historical periods. The window decorations and stone carvings are like solidified musical notes, forming a silent and magnificent piece. The architectural symphony of Tujia folk houses echoes in my ears for a long time through history and time. Li's Ancestral Hall

The Fortress of the Tusi Dynasty

Go out from the side gate on the right side of Li's Manor and walk along the ridge road for hundreds of meters to arrive at Li's Ancestral Hall. Standing proudly in the wind and snow, occupying the dangerous pass, the majestic city wall and the surrounding geographical environment reflect a majestic and domineering atmosphere, which is awe-inspiring and intimidating. There is a small well on the east side of the front of the ancestral hall, surrounded by a high wall. The front of the wall is engraved with the three characters "Da Shuijing", which is also the origin of the name Dashui Well.

The ancestral hall was built in the 26th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1846). The architectural style of the entire ancestral hall is almost the same as that of the ancestral halls of the Han people in the south. The ancestral hall covers an area of ??6,000 square meters, with a construction area of ??3,800 square meters and more than 60 houses. The main body was built during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The total length of the city wall is about 400 meters, 8 meters high and 3 meters thick. The wall ladders rise step by step according to the mountain. The corner ladders are all built from a single huge stone. There are 108 holes arranged in sequence to strictly connect all passages. It can be said that the barriers are tight and impregnable. Stepping into this castle that integrates political power, military power, and clan power, everyone's face can't help but have a solemn and solemn look. There are three main halls arranged on the central axis of the ancestral hall, which are activity centers for educating tribesmen, worshiping ancestors, and discussing government, military and clan affairs. They are rich in couplets, exquisite wood carvings and stone carvings, and unique colored porcelain relief patterns, which are colorful and brilliant.

The lecture hall on the right side of the main hall is the "judgment hall" where life and death are determined. In front of the door is a "fault bridge" paved with huge stones, with a Tai Chi style pattern carved in the center and bat patterns carved around it. Corridors are built on the bridge, symmetrical on the left and right. The side skills are different. In the past, those who violated the Li clan's laws would kneel on this "bridge" to listen to the "rites" and wait for the verdict. If they went out through Cheng'en Gate, it would mean "death" and they would be taken to the cliff of Longqiao River and thrown to death. If judged to be alive, they will be released from the "shengmen". There is a small well on the east side, and a high wall built with huge stones around it. The front of the wall is engraved with the words "Da Shui Well", which is also the origin of the name of Da Shui Well. According to legend, the last patriarch, Li Gaiwu, insisted on guarding the ancestral hall. Because the water source was cut off, he had to surrender and make peace. Later, this solid city wall was built. When we saw the well, we couldn't help but be a little disappointed because it was too small and the water had become a little dirty. The cultural management department has placed a few wooden spoons here, allowing tourists to take a spoonful of well water to taste and drink out the long aftertaste of that period of history.

"The dragon returns to the well, the phoenix lives in the mountain" is a myth about the migration of brothers Li Tinglong and Li Tingfeng to Sichuan, the fifth great ancestor of Li Gai. It became the fortress of Li's feudal dynasty and wrote the rise and fall of a large family. Gaoyangtai

The Elegy of the Tusi Dynasty

The cold wind whistled and the white snow fell. We drove down the road, and from a distance, the mansion and compound of the last patriarch of the Li family came into view. The vast mountains seemed to be offering up a series of snow-white condolences, and the howling north wind was telling us like weeping and singing. The decline of the Tusi Dynasty.

Abandoning the car to climb the mountain, it is located on a high platform surrounded by mountains. It was built in the 31st year of the Republic of China. This place was originally called "Grape Weng". The last patriarch, Li Gaiwu, built a house here because his brothers were separated. He thought the place name was slang and changed the name to "High Mountain Yang Zhi". The mansion covers an area of ??more than 2,000 square meters and has more than 40 houses. The building's cornices and corners are meticulously carved and uncanny, and its craftsmanship is no less impressive than the large well that corresponds to it. The wide courtyard, the tall main hall, the spectacular embroidered tower, the neat side halls, the scattered side rooms, and the exquisite and intricate wood core stone carvings are breathtaking and lingering. Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Due to the dangers of soldiers and bandits, Li Gai and his family had to return to Dashuijing with their families. They struggled to resist the enemy with the help of natural barriers and solid cities, in order to preserve and continue the glory and glory of the Li family chieftain dynasty.

As for the rise and fall of the Li family in Dashuijing, there are multiple versions of legends circulating locally. They are like mysterious shadows, making it difficult to fathom. Perhaps all the secrets are hidden between the walls and roof tiles, but after more than three hundred years of wind, frost, rain, snow, and ups and downs, the house has become old, like an old man in his dying years, unable to say anything.

As the wheels of history pass by, the Dashuijing ancient building complex not only witnesses the rise and fall of a family, but also witnesses the cultural heritage displayed by the inherent mind of the Tujia people.
