Travel guide of Bataizi village in Datong

Bataizi Village in Datong is a unique ancient village full of humanistic feelings. It retains a large number of ancient buildings and looks very dreamy. Friends who are not very familiar with this history can visit it, which is absolutely interesting.

In Datong, Shanxi Province, there is a small mountain village called Bataizi, which is no different from other surrounding villages, but it is well-known and is a tourist attraction with rising popularity. It is also the place where photographers punch in.

The original reason for the popularity of the ordinary Bataizi is not only that the winding and desolate ruins of the ancient Great Wall pass by the village, but also that the ruins of the Catholic Church stand next to the Great Wall on the hillside behind the village.

For more than 1 years, the Great Wall culture in the East and the church culture in the West collided and merged with each other. Both cultures rejected and obeyed, and * * * survived. This is the unique highlight that attracts people's attention.

Bataizi Church was built in the 197s, destroyed by the Boxer Rebellion, rebuilt in 1916, and destroyed in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the Cultural Revolution, leaving only this stormy Gothic tower.

The towering spire of the tower pierces the blue sky, like an exclamation mark, lamenting the vicissitudes and misfortunes of people in the past for more than 1 years. When witnessing this desolate and miserable scene, people can't help wondering why the communication between the East and the West is always full of brutality, killing and destruction.

Bataizi Village is located in the northern part of Zuoyun County, Datong City, more than 2 kilometers, close to the Inner Mongolia border. It is a small village in Shan Ye. On the hillside behind the village is the long-lasting Great Wall. I don't know when it was built, but it is definitely not lower than the Ming Dynasty. The Great Wall is not covered with bricks, with unique scenery, majestic nature and beautiful pictures of the Great Wall.

In fact, in addition to the great wall, mountains, small villages, customs beyond the Great Wall, border fortress and other landscape cultures, the most striking thing here is that there stands a European-style church relic on the hillside. The church is beautifully carved and beautifully designed, and has a brick structure. Although the main structure is gone, the remaining church gatehouse and tower are towering there, interacting with the Great Wall and located on the hillside. Think about it, it is so spectacular.

According to the data, in the 16th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, Catholicism was introduced to Zuoyun County, and foreign missionaries and believers from Datong, Shanxi Province came to Bataizi Village to spread and develop Christians, and a cathedral of Notre Dame with a capacity of 8 people was built on the hillside.

In p>19, the Boxer Rebellion began. They killed foreign missionaries and burned the church. After the signing of the Xin Chou Treaty the following year, the church was rebuilt. After liberation, especially during the Cultural Revolution, the church was destroyed and damaged again.
