Is the Spring Festival in Xishuangbanna the most crowded time?
The Songkran Festival in Xishuangbanna is the Dai New Year. It is an annual traditional festival of Dai people and one of the most grand traditional festivals in Xishuangbanna. It is usually held in the middle of April in the Dai calendar, which is equivalent to the middle of April in the Gregorian calendar and generally lasts for 3 to 7 days. Songkran Festival is also the New Year of Dai people, which has a history of thousands of years. Local residents think this day is the most beautiful and auspicious day. During the period, everyone sprinkled purified water on each other and prayed to wash away the troubles of the past year. On May 20th, 2006, the Songkran Festival was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
