Wuzhaigou is located in the northwest of Shanxi Province, the northern part of Luliang Mountain, and most of the area is in Wuzhai County. It is about 70 kilometers long from north to south and 78 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total forest management area of 445,000 mu. There are existing natural secondary forests 1 1.2 million mu. Wuzhaigou is a multi-folded alpine zone composed of Luya Mountain and Yunzhongshan Mountain. Luya Mountain and Heyeping Mountain have fresh air and pleasant scenery, which are good places for summer vacation, rest and entertainment. Wuzhaigou is mainly composed of natural secondary forests of spruce and Larix principis-rupprechtii. Known as "the hometown of Larix principis-rupprechtii" and "the hometown of spruce". It is located in the forest area, surrounded by green mountains and green waters, and the forest of Songhai, as if it were a cool paradise. National first-class protected animals, Shanxi Province birds brown pheasant, black stork, leopard, snow leopard, sika deer, golden eagle, musk deer and other national first-and second-class rare protected animals all appear in the ditch.

Wuzhai, located at the northern foot of Guancen Mountain in northwest Shanxi, is the center of eight counties in northwest Shanxi and belongs to a typical loess plateau. The terrain is belt-shaped in southeast-northwest direction, with loess hilly areas in the east, west and north, and rocky mountains in the south. Since ancient times, there have been two mountains in the east and west, and the word "Ding" in eighty miles is called Pingchuan.

Wuzhai terrain is high in the southeast and low in the northwest. Heyeping Mountain in the south is the highest, with an altitude of 2783 meters, and Sancha Town and Hanjialou Village in the northwest are the lowest, with an altitude of 1.300 meters. Therefore, there is a folk saying that "there are five villages on the top and three forks on the bottom". Wuzhai is a water-rich county in the northwest of Shanxi. The main rivers are Zhujiachuan River, Xianchuan River, Lanyi River, Qinglian River and Lujiao River. The larger reservoirs are Nanfeng Reservoir, Baicaozhuang Reservoir and Guojiahe Reservoir.

The total area of the county is 139 1.3 square kilometers, and it governs 12 townships (towns) and 249 administrative villages, with a total population of about 1 1000 people, including 90,000 agricultural people.

The annual average temperature in Wuzhai is 4.3℃, 1 month is-14℃, and in July it is-19℃. It is a typical livable place with warm winter and cool summer. The annual rainfall is 500mm, and the frost-free period is 120 days.
