Country life is everywhere in the stockade.

At the beginning of June 2020, I came to Pengjiazhai, Shadaogou Town, Xuanen County, surrounded by dozens of diaojiao buildings, forming a beautiful scenery.

In front of the stockade, the Longtan River flows slowly, and the stream is slightly blue, singing all the way. A suspension bridge more than 40 meters long connects the stockade with the outside world. People walk on it and sway from side to side, which instantly makes people return to childhood.

Walking into the stockade, the houses built on the mountain are strewn at random with the extension of the terrain, the roof is smoky and the tiles are high, silently telling people the long history of the stockade. The artistic conception of "watching the mountains, watching the water and remembering homesickness" arises spontaneously.

The upturned eaves of blue tiles add a sense of simplicity.

According to reports, the stockade has a history of more than 300 years. During the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, a man named Peng fled from Yongshun, Hunan Province with his son. When he saw this place near the mountains and rivers, he settled here. Except for a family named Li, the whole stockade is named Peng.

Of the 23 diaojiao buildings in the village, only one is from Qing Dynasty, and the others are from modern times. Each building is self-contained, with an area ranging from 100 square meters to several hundred square meters. Generally, the main room is one bright, two dark and three bays, and the niche house is the wing. Part of the wing is surrounded by niches in the upper and lower rooms, forming a three-story space.

Cuojikouwu

There are single hanging, double hanging, two-story hanging, three-story hanging, flat hanging and one-word hanging, which cover almost all hanging styles, so Pengjiazhai is called Tujia Pan Museum.

A diaojiao building was built on the slope. The high place built horizontally is called the principal room, and the low place is called the wing room. Two houses are vertically enclosed to form a small courtyard, or three houses are enclosed to form a patio. Generally, the house is divided into three bays, two floors up and down, three pillars and five rides (pillars that don't fall to the ground) or five pillars and eight rides. There is a hall in the middle, which is divided into two rooms on both sides. The back room is the bedroom, and the outer room is the kang room.

Traditional fishing gear attracts people's attention.

In addition to the diaojiao building, there is also a wind and rain bridge in Pengjiazhai-there is a pavilion bridge on the right side of Guanyin Mountain. The bridge was built in Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty for two years, with a history of 100 years. The bridge is 10 meter long, 5 meters wide and 4 meters high, with two rows and four rows of sectors, paved with blue tiles, and benches on both sides for people to enjoy the cool and rest.

It is not easy to preserve the Pengjiazhai Diaojiao Building Group, which combines the beauty of space, hierarchy and outline.

In 2004, Zhang, a master of ancient Chinese architecture and a professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, put forward the protection proposal of "keeping the old appearance as before", which opened the prelude to the protection project of Pengjiazhai characteristic village, and upgraded all the wires and switches of Pengjiazhai complex to ensure safety. Install fire hoses; Improve water, kitchen and toilet, and build trash cans and traditional bamboo fences.

Now, this ancient stockade, which is listed in the seventh batch of key cultural relics protection units in China, is welcoming a new life. Pengjiazhai is being built into a 5A-level scenic spot. In June this year, the first phase of China Tujia Pan Museum will open for a trial welcome.

Nowadays, there are many tourists here, villagers start selling local products, and people's production and lifestyle have changed a lot.
