Four kinds of visas to study in Singapore

Singapore is a warm country, and Singaporeans hope that every foreigner can feel at home here. The Singapore government is fully aware that talent is the most important resource to maintain Singapore's economic development and success. The government welcomes all foreign professionals, entrepreneurs, skilled workers, graduates and anyone who can contribute to national, social and economic development.

Four kinds of visas that Singapore students should know when entering the country:

tourist visa

Employment Pass/Family Passport.

Student pass

work permit

Visitor visa:

This kind of visa is generally provided to tourists coming to Singapore, family members and friends of permanent residents in Singapore, and allows tourists to stay in Singapore for several days to several months. This kind of visa can be divided into three types:

Social visit visa (social visit visa)

If you need to stay in Singapore for a short time, such as attending job interviews and business negotiations, you need to apply for a social visit visa. But you can't work here. This visa is valid for two to four weeks and can be extended to three months.

Long-term social visit visa

Dependent Pass (Dependent Pass)

Employment permit:

To work in Singapore, you need to apply for an employment permit (EP). To apply for an employment permit, you must have a local sponsor, usually your employer, who will apply for it for you. Employment permits vary according to the qualifications of applicants, and there are two kinds of employment permits issued to foreigners.

P license

Foreigners with recognized degrees, professional qualifications and professional skills who want to find professional, administrative, executive or manager jobs in Singapore can apply for P-permit. Entrepreneurs or investors can also apply for a P license. P 1 permit can be obtained if the monthly income exceeds SGD 7000, and P2 permit can be obtained if the monthly income is SGD 35065438+SGD 0-7000.

Q 1 certificate

This license is issued to foreigners whose basic monthly income exceeds S $2,500, and they have obtained degrees, professional and technical qualification certificates or professional skills.

Employment permit holders can apply for lineal relatives certificates for spouses and unmarried children under 2 1 year. The permit application of immediate family members can be submitted together with the employment permit application to save the time of document processing.

Work permit:

From July 2004 1, S-permit began to replace Q2-permit as a work permit, instead of an employment permit (EP) or a work permit, so as to fill the gap between the two visas. The minimum monthly income of foreigners with work permits should reach S $65,438 +0, 800 yuan. S Permit is applicable to foreigners in 800 yuan whose monthly basic salary is at least S $65,438 +0. Applicants for the S- permit will be evaluated according to a points system, which will consider various criteria, including salary, education, skills, job type and work experience. The tax on S-permit is S $50 per month, and the maximum number of S-permit holders in each company is 5% of the number of local workers and work permit holders.

You can apply for permission in person or online in the United States, and it usually takes two to three weeks to accept it. A company applying for a new S permit or extending the Q2 permit of its employees must have a CPF account. This facilitates the processing of S-permit applications according to the company's quota and the collection of taxes through the central MPFA. Each company must also attach the provident fund payment report for the last three months to the application documents.

Cancel the work permit

Once a foreign employee no longer works for a Singapore company, his work permit will be cancelled, and all permits (including EP, immediate family members and S permits) will be returned within one week after the employee stops working. It should be noted here that once the permit is not returned in time, it will be considered illegal. After the permit was cancelled, the relevant personnel obtained a social visit visa and were allowed to stay in Singapore for two weeks. If the employee's job changes (such as the change of work place, responsibility or employer), he must reapply.

Formal cancellation of various licenses requires the following documents:

A letter from his employer explaining why the permit was cancelled.

The holder's valid travel document and entry record card/appearance record card (or green card) or S permit card/notification letter of my report to the work permit service center.

Immigrant White Card (IMM27)

Student pass:

If you plan to study in Singapore for a long time or become a full-time student, you must apply for a student permit. If you have been admitted to any of the following educational institutions, you can apply:

Schools registered by the Ministry of Education.

Schools that are not registered with the Ministry of Education but have been approved by the Immigration Bureau to accept foreign students.

Obtained a license to run a kindergarten from the Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports.

If the following situations occur, and if Singapore students are:

Permit holders of immediate family members attend educational institutions registered by the Ministry of Education or kindergartens licensed by the Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports.

Holders of immigration exemption orders.

In addition, if you hold a short-term social visit permit and want to complete a 30-day short-term course or study within the validity period of the permit, you don't need to apply for a student permit. However, two conditions need to be met:

You must study a complete single-mode course. The student exemption permit does not include multi-mode courses.

The courses taken by foreign students in Singapore must not be related to any practical vocational skills training and/or the business premises where students can directly contact customers or use vocational skills (such as hair salons and beauty salons).

Students registered in educational institutions registered by the Ministry of Education must first contact these schools directly. Whether you can be admitted to these schools depends on how many students the school can recruit.

After reading the above information, do students realize how lacking their knowledge is, and how much knowledge they don't know but should know? If you don't see this message, you may encounter difficulties in studying in Singapore.
