The circular road around the main courtyard building is a sidewalk paved with stones, which is more than 1500 meters long. Because the slope is steep, and it is connected with the drainage ditch everywhere, it is impossible to retain rainwater when it rains, so there is a saying that "shoes are not wet for half a month when it rains".

Architectural sculpture is the most precious art in Shijiagou. Almost every courtyard has carved patterns, such as wood carving, stone carving and brick carving, decorated with doors and windows, bucket arches, sparrow replacement, hanging, beams, zhaobi, column base, door piers, plaques, stilts, door covers, etc., with diverse genres and rich contents.

Shijiagou folk house can be said to be a classic of mountain architecture, a model of farming and reading civilization, a treasure house of architectural carving art, and an outstanding representative of northern folk houses in China. It has been recognized by the international ancient architecture community as the "first village in the world" for the expansion and utilization of mountain space.
