The 2023 Xiamen Marathon will be held on April 2.

The reporter learned from the 2023 Xiamen Marathon press conference held on the 31st that this year’s event will kick off on April 2, and 16 high-level international athletes will participate. According to reports, the scale of this event has returned to 35,000 people, and only a full marathon will be set. The event officials have invited 16 overseas professional players from Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco and other countries and regions. Well-known domestic athletes such as He Jie, Dong Guojian and Bai Li will also participate.

Kenyan female runner G Kiptagraai said that this was the first time she was invited to participate in the Xiamen Marathon. "I am very excited and hope to achieve good results in Xiamen." As a participant in this year's event, As supporting activities, the Xiamen Marathon will also set up the "Marathon Better Life Festival" for the first time to create a sports carnival.

The process of holding the Xiamen Marathon:

On December 3, 2002, citizen Ma Da proposed to the Xiamen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Xiamen Municipal People's Government via email that it should be held on Huandao Road International Marathon. Xiamen applied to the State Sports General Administration to host the Xiamen International Marathon and received official approval on December 30.

On March 30, 2003, the 2003 Xiamen International Marathon was held as scheduled. From 2003 to 2007, the Xiamen International Marathon was held on the last Saturday of March every year. Since 2008, the race time of the Xiamen International Marathon has been moved forward from the last Saturday in March to the first Saturday in January to make the climate conditions more suitable for the race. From 2003 to 2017, it was called "Xiamen International Marathon (Xiamen International Marathon)" and was changed to its current name in 2018.
