What is Guangxi’s border tourism pilot zone?

A pilot zone to solve the dilemmas and problems faced by border tourism. The Border Tourism Pilot Zone is the only reform-oriented key tourism development area determined at the national level and aims to solve the dilemmas and problems faced by border tourism. In April 2018, the State Council approved the establishment of border tourism pilot zones in Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia, and Fangchenggang, Guangxi. These are the first border tourism pilot zones established in China. China's land border is more than 22,000 kilometers long and borders 14 countries. After nearly 40 years of reform and opening up, border tourism has gradually become one of the three major inbound and outbound tourism markets along with overseas tourism and tourism from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The purpose of the border tourism pilot zone is to promote the development of all-region tourism in key border areas and create border tourism destinations by strengthening policy integration and institutional innovation, thereby playing a leading role in the reform and innovation of the national tourism industry.
