May 19th is China Tourism Day. This day originated from the opening chapter of Xu Xiake’s travel notes.

China Tourism Day originated from Tiantai Mountain.

The opening chapter of "Xu Xiake's Travel Notes" is "A Journey to Tiantai Mountain": "On the twilight of the third month of Guichou (May 19, 1613 AD), I left Ninghai from the west gate. "The 24 words at the beginning of "Xu Xiake's Travels" have left a treasure of cultural tourism for future generations.

Because "China Tourism Day" is related to Xu Xiake, the great traveler, geographer, historian, and writer of the Ming Dynasty in my country, the first article in "Xu Xiake's Travel Notes" is "Diary of a Tour to Tiantai Mountain" .

Xu Xiake has traveled throughout most of China in the past 30 years and written many travel notes. During this period, he visited Tiantai Mountain three times and wrote two travel notes: "Diary of a Tour to Tiantai Mountain" and "After Diary of a Tour to Tiantai Mountain".

The previous article was written after he entered Tiantai Mountain and visited Tiantai Mountain in the 41st year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1613). The latter article was written twenty years later. He once again explored the Tiantai landscape in more detail.

After revisiting Huading and Shiliang, he went to Yandang Mountain on the way. After returning, he carefully inspected the scenery in the southwest of Tiantai. And in his most essential work "Xu Xiake's Travels", he compiled both travel notes into it.

One place is included in two articles. In "Xu Xiake's Travels", there are only three places including Tiantai Mountain. What is even more worth mentioning is that "Diary of Traveling to Mount Tiantai" was edited in the first chapter of "Travel Notes". As the opening chapter, it can be seen that Mount Tiantai has a high status in the minds of "traveling saints".
