Canada in Stratford

The town of STRATFORD is in western Ontario, more than 110 kilometers away from OAKVILLE. The town is favored by many tourists because it has the same name as the hometown of the famous drama master and poet William Shakespeare. It is also where the Canadian pop king Justin Bieber grew up.

Stratford's Shakespeare Festival is the largest arts festival in North America that mainly performs Shakespeare's plays. It was founded in 1953 and features some famous Canadian actors such as The Sound of Music. Christopher Plummer, who starred in Star Trek, and William Shatner, who starred in Star Trek, have all performed at the Shakespeare Festival.
