Why don’t some people recommend traveling to Vietnam?
Because Vietnamese people don’t like Chinese people.
Think about the Sino-Vietnam War in 1979. More than 100,000 people died in Vietnam. Vietnamese people hate Chinese people very much. I've been to Vietnam once anyway, so I don't want to go to the next one. Vietnamese are not friendly when they meet Chinese. They have to deal with us just to make our money. People in northern Vietnam near Guangxi and Yunnan, no I don't like Chinese, are friendly to Japanese and Koreans. It remains a major legacy of the Sino-Vietnamese War. The Vietnamese in the south are more friendly to the Chinese. It may be that the battlefield is far away from the Vietnamese in the south, and the damage caused by the war is not too great.
In addition, Vietnam’s management of the US tourism market is not in place, and Chinese tourists are everywhere in shopping malls. Things sold in shopping malls are more expensive than those sold in Chinese port cities. The things I buy in Vietnam are three times more expensive than what I buy in Chinese port cities. There were Vietnamese soldiers and policemen who met the Chinese who looked reluctant and tough. When Chinese tour guides met Vietnamese customs staff, they all groveled like traitors, which was very uncomfortable. Because there are a lot of Chinese people traveling to Vietnam now, Vietnamese civil servants are very corrupt, they don’t give tips very well, and they deliberately make things difficult for tour guides. Anyway, people who have been to Vietnam have said they never want to go there again without me.
(1) Vietnam Travel Post:
I have been to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Halong Bay and Minai in Vietnam, and the overall feeling is good. I don't know why some people don't like it. Idon’t recommend going to Vietnam, but there may still be some historical issues there. Putting aside the political aspect, Vietnam is still worth visiting from a tourism perspective.
Vietnamese are generally friendly to tourists from China. I went to Halong Bay with a group. The tour guide service in Vietnam and the United States is warm and thoughtful, and I can see that I am a little in awe of the Chinese. Once, I planned to take a taxi without taking Vietnamese Dong. The Vietnamese tour guide happened to see it and gave me a ticket without saying a word. Of course, I paid him back later. This incident made me feel that Vietnamese people are quite simple.
While taking a cruise in Halong Bay, the proprietress on the ship almost burst out laughing trying to sell souvenirs. No matter how the male tourists joked and made fun of her, she never got angry. She has a very good temper. When I go shopping at the Halong Bay Night Market in the evening, the prices are ridiculous. It was quoted 100, we paid 20, and the stall owner was not angry. He pulled us to continue bargaining. If I had to repay this money in China, I would have been scolded and run away!
Ho Chi Minh, Mina, I am a freelancer. I have only seen one guy at the front desk. He was not very enthusiastic and serious in speech. I didn't encounter any anti-Chinese behavior during the whole process. Maybe it’s also because the American streets of Ho Chi Minh City are filled with foreigners. It's a very tolerant city, so no one cares where you come from.
Vietnam has beautiful beaches and cheap seafood, Ho Chi Minh has exotic and French style, and Hanoi is low-key and restrained. When you live in Ho Chi Minh, you can meet many Chinese people, especially Guangxi people , they say Ho Chi Minh is their backyard.
Consumption in Vietnam is not high, and language is not a big problem. It’s nice to look at.
