Does anyone have experience hiking Yungang Grottoes, Hengshan Mountain, and Wutai Mountain?
There are not many tourist attractions in northern Shanxi, but we have heard about Yungang Grottoes for a long time. Taking advantage of the National Day holiday, we planned to drive there. Looking at the map of Shanxi, Xuankong Temple, Hengshan Mountain, Wutai Mountain, and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda are all in northern Shanxi. In order to avoid detours and visit more scenic spots, we conducted extensive searches on the Internet, compiled a Shanxi travel manual, and formulated a travel route.
Plan:
Beijing>Datong (accommodation)
I got up at 5:30 on October 1, 2007. I opened the window and saw that it was raining moderately. After hesitating, I went out and got in my car. I walked from the Sports Center to the main road of the Fourth Ring Road. When I walked to Sijiqing, I found that the windshield wiper was cracked. I stopped the car and took care of it before moving on. At 6:33, we arrived at the Badaling Expressway Toll Station. The road to Juyongguan was closed due to an accident ahead. We exited the expressway and took the auxiliary road. We originally planned to get on the expressway from Kangzhuang (the situation was unknown at the time), but due to unclear road conditions, we almost arrived at Yanqing County. Well, looking at the map, I saw that National Highway 110 can also go around the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Expressway. I changed my plan and was going to take National Highway 110. Wrong. As soon as National Highway 110 passed the Beijing border, there were many large cars, and the up and down lanes seemed to have become one-way lanes, and the lanes were occupied by people coming from Hebei. I walked forward for about 4 kilometers, including walking on the mounds of dirt on the roadside, and then stopped moving completely. After asking, the driver of the big truck who came over said that it would take 2 days to pass. what to do. We decisively decided to turn around, go back to the expressway, and enter the expressway from Kangzhuang Toll Station.
We got on the Badaling Expressway and arrived in Datong smoothly. The road signs were clear along the way.
We arrived in Datong around 1:30 noon, about 3 hours later than originally planned, and found a fast food restaurant for dinner. Head straight to Yungang Grottoes. It is about 16 kilometers and takes half an hour to reach the Yungang Grottoes parking lot. It takes about 45 minutes to 1 and a half hours to visit Yungang.
Overnight in Datong.
