What can I do when traveling besides seeing the scenic spots?

Some people say that it is not enough to go sightseeing and take photos. You should do something else. But as for other things, what is it? Each has his own ideas and practices.

General group travel is completely controlled by the itinerary of the tour group. From one scenic spot to another, time is completely dominated by others. There are some scenic spots I don't like, but I can only scrape by because I have enough time to arrange them. Some scenic spots have a tight schedule, but this is your favorite song. Unfortunately, time is too tight, so I can only have a quick glance, leaving endless regrets. Maybe you'll never have a chance to revisit it again. Traveling with a group is really an embarrassing situation to get off the bus to take pictures and get on the bus to sleep. It's not bad to go somewhere for the first time, or for the elderly. But for someone like me who likes to wander around alone, that kind of bondage is a little unbearable.

My family travels, and the surrounding area is generally self-driving. Moreover, when traveling, in addition to taking photos and sightseeing at regular scenic spots, I always like to experience the local customs. Where can it be best reflected? Our family agreed that it was a local farmers' market or food market. Every time I go to a scenic spot, I always pay attention to whether there are markets and other places with many locals nearby to see what the locals eat and sell. When I see some strange local products, I always buy some to try at home.

A few years ago, around the Spring Festival, the whole family went to Jinhu, Jiangsu Province to attend the wedding of a colleague's son and stayed in a local hotel for one day. Get up the next morning and see what this town looks like. Jinhu Town, there are no famous tourist attractions, but the most common ordinary town in the countryside. There is an east-west street, and the pavement along the street is also the most common, which is similar to the pavement in the suburban towns of Shanghai. Wandering in the street, the eagle-eyed son saw a local food market and couldn't help going in to see what they were selling here.

Jinhu, located in Huaibei, sells the meat of big cows such as beef and mutton. On New Year's Day, the food market was crowded and the business was booming. We won't buy these. We can buy some local vegetables at most. There are also many vegetables, lotus roots, dry goods, beans and so on. Some vegetables are really not available in Shanghai, and their names are very strange. And there are game sellers, and the locals shoot pheasants with shotguns themselves. According to my son's wishes (his chef is in charge at home, and he is in charge of buying vegetables), I bought some local dishes, such as lotus root, red-headed shallots, pickles, and some salted duck eggs similar to Shanghai yellow cabbage. What is the name of this vegetable? I haven't reacted yet. It's delicious anyway. When I got home, Chef Xie cooked it, and it was really delicious. The local people are sincere and honest. With this experience, I will always go to the food market and pay attention to some delicious vegetables when I go out in the future.

This summer vacation, the whole family drove to Nanbei Lake on a weekend. There are mountains near Nanbei Lake, which belong to the scope of tourist attractions, and there are no small food markets and the like. After going down the mountain, I came to Ganpu Town and accidentally saw a food market-Liuli Food Market. For us, it's like finding a treasure and going in to feast our eyes. But after all, Zhejiang is close to Shanghai, and the dishes sold in the market are similar to those in Shanghai. Celery, rice amaranth, wax gourd, green vegetables and so on, looking at these familiar vegetables, a little disappointed. My wife is sharp-eyed and sees a strange thing. We did not notice that she had bought it. I looked down and thought it was a novel vegetable. Isn't that the stalk of old rice amaranth? Is this thing edible? But what can I do if I buy it now? Grapes are abundant here, so I bought two bunches of grapes to go home. I thought about it all the way. How to eat the old rice amaranth stalk? When I got home, I tore off the old skin of the old rice amaranth, diced the tender stems inside and fried them with minced meat. As a result, it became a delicious dish. That old terrier, I didn't expect it to be quite tender. Maybe I'll buy more when I see it next time.

It is almost a habit to visit the local vegetable market every time I travel. Listen to the local language. Although I can hardly understand it, I can always feel the warmth of our national family when I see their openness and enthusiasm for foreign tourists.
