Yunnan’s climate is like spring all year round, and it also has different altitudes. In 1892, French missionaries brought coffee seeds to Dali, Yunnan, which kicked off coffee planting in Yunnan. Due to external publicity and economic development, etc. Due to various reasons, Chinese people have limited understanding of Yunnan coffee, and it is far less famous than foreign coffee. However, in recent years, more coffee merchants have chosen Yunnan coffee, selling Yunnan coffee all over the country and the world, allowing more people to learn about Yunnan coffee.
Yunnan currently has four major production areas: Lincang, Baoshan, Dehong, and Pu'er. Coffee is mostly grown at an altitude of more than 1,100 meters, so it has a moderate sour taste, a rich and mellow aroma, and is known to be strong but not bitter, and fragrant. It is famous for its unique flavor that is not strong but slightly acidic. In Yunnan, coffee beans are processed in three ways: washing, drying and honey processing. The coffee beans produced by different methods have different flavors, which also forms the diversity of Yunnan coffee bean flavors.
Coffee beans from the Pu'er production area have large particles and prominent fruit acidity
Coffee beans from the Lincang production area have a plump taste, high saturation and balanced fruit acidity
Dehong The coffee beans in the production area have unique flavor and excellent quality. They are recognized as the most suitable production area for growing arabica coffee
The coffee beans in the Baoshan production area have weak sourness and strong aroma and bitterness
Except for the production areas , there are three main varieties of coffee beans in Yunnan, Typica, Bourbon, and Catimo
Typica (TYPICA): Typica coffee is native to Ethiopia and southeastern Sudan. It is a classic Arabica. Bean species, most specialty coffee including Blue Mountain coffee beans are Typica species.
BOURBON: Bourbon is a variant of Typica, native to Bourbon Island in the Indian Ocean. Bourbon is a perennial winner in specialty coffee cupping in the Americas and has a high acidic flavor.
CATIMOR: Catimor is a hybrid of Timor species (belonging to the Robusta species) and caturra (a variant of the Bourbon species), so Catimor has 25% Robust Its Robusta origin also determines its taste defects: the aroma is not rich enough, and the overall taste is bitter, prone to astringency and a pungent musty smell.

In fact, Yunnan coffee is really good now, and there are countless high-quality coffees in the streets and alleys of Yunnan.
