What are the tourist attractions in Dali, Yunnan?
In the Erhai Lake, there is an isolated reef floating on the sea about 10 kilometers north of Jinsuo Island. There is a pavilion on it, which is Xiao Putuo. This reef looks like a square seal, and it is said that it was the Zhenhai seal left by Guanyin. Around the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, nearby fishermen donated money to build a two-story pavilion on the island, which enshrined the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, so people called it Guanyin Pavilion.
Why was it called Xiaoputuo later? It is the abbreviation of Putuoluojiashan in Putuo Sanskrit, which means Huaxiaobai Mountain or Xiaohuashu Mountain. Guanyin is said to practice in India. Therefore, most of the legendary holy places of Guanyin are called Mount Putuo, such as Mount Putuo in Zhejiang, one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. So it was finally renamed Xiao Putuo. Looking at Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake from Xiao Putuo is like being on a silver plate held by a white-headed old man, and your mind is particularly open-minded.
