Guangxi National Museum is the third autonomous region-level museum in Guangxi, and it is a special museum of national culture with the largest exhibition area and complete facilities in Guangxi. The construction of Guangxi National Museum began in 2003. Located in the beautiful Yongjiang River and Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area in Nanning, it covers an area of 1.30 mu with a total construction area of 30,500m2. It is also connected to an open-air exhibition garden of more than 60 acres of traditional houses in Guangxi. In 2003, the government of the autonomous region identified it as a key public cultural facilities construction project and regarded it as a key project and a gift project for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the autonomous region. The project officially started construction in June 2006. The functional orientation of Guangxi National Museum is a professional national cultural museum focusing on the reproduction and survival of 12 ethnic groups living in Guangxi, which integrates the development of social development material evidence, cultural and artistic remains, ancient books and intangible cultural heritage and research results, including investigation, collection, protection, research and exhibition, education and publicity.

Guangxi National Museum is the largest cultural facility project in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is an autonomous, state-owned, public welfare and professional museum of national culture. Its main task is to collect, study and display the traditional cultures of 12 ethnic groups living in Guangxi, and at the same time, take into account the cultural research, cultural relics collection and publicity and display of ethnic groups in neighboring provinces of Guangxi and Southeast Asia. The museum is located in Qinghuan Road, Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area in Nanning, covering an area of 130 mu, with a total investment of about 250 million yuan. The main building model is based on the bronze drum with rich regional and national characteristics in Guangxi, and the whole building is like a Kunpeng with wings spread, roaming between green mountains and green waters. The building area is 29,370 ㎡, of which the exhibition area is about 8,000 ㎡. The whole museum area has five functional areas: public service area, open-air exhibition area, cultural relics protection research center, commercial and administrative area and logistics service area. There are high-tech movie halls, multi-functional conference halls, cultural relic specimen viewing rooms, specialized libraries and online museums. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2008, it will be officially opened as a major gift project. There will be a large-scale exhibition of Guangxi ethnic culture, 10 "ASEAN Cultural Exhibition" of ASEAN countries, a joint invitation exhibition of five ethnic autonomous regions, a special exhibition of cultural relics in China ethnic autonomous regions and a small personal collection exhibition with distinctive features, which can meet the demand of receiving 1 10,000 visitors every year.
