Why do RVs cause trouble wherever you go (Real Experience of Traveling in an RV)

Some people say that RVs should be a high-end form of travel, but at present, most of China's travel is poor with low-end RVs.

Where is the development of tourism not to make money? Is this the reason why RVs are not popular?

Are all wealthy people traveling in RVs? Watching the videos of experts, it seems that they are low-consumption tours.

A friend asked me in a private message what I thought of the financial situation of RV experts. It felt like they were wandering and traveling without spending money.

When I saw RVs in the past, most of them were played by foreigners. They used RVs as their own mobile homes, and then went to distant places to live or experience in uninhabited wilderness far away from cities or villages.

The places I went to had difficult conditions or were empty and uninhabited places, but because of the existence of RVs, life was not bad. So in the past, I thought RVs were a life for the rich. RVs are expensive, and RV life is also a letdown. People feel envious and distant, and feel superior.

As for our current RVs, they are very different. First, domestic car manufacturers or modification factories have seen this piece of cake and have launched various grades of RVs to meet everyone's needs. In addition, The price of RVs has been falling again and again, and now it seems that RVs costing around 100,000 yuan have appeared in large numbers. Obviously, this is no longer just for the rich. Many people can own one if they want to buy one.

In terms of demand, in addition to some retirees, there are now a large number of young people buying RVs, traveling or doing self-media. These people themselves are not high-spending people, or they do not bring much money with them when they go out. People who want to save money will save money when they can. We-media is here to make money. We have to calculate the cost and it is impossible to have large consumption, and the elderly group is reluctant to spend money.

So the domestic RV groups do not go to sparsely populated wild areas, but flock to scenic spots in various places. This may squeeze public resources. I have seen that some places have facilities. There is a complete RV base, but it charges 40-50 yuan per night. As a result, there is very little parking. On the contrary, the wasteland not far away is crowded with RVs and bed cars, because there is no money here.

It takes up local public resources, consumes less, and produces domestic waste. This has also made some places unwelcome to bed and truck owners. The RV industry has also begun to complain: Why are there boycotts or Dilemma, where should I park my RV?

So is the RV really comfortable and fun?

Some self-media people will make up some stories or jokes for the sake of traffic. Their life is completely performance. In fact, whether it is an RV or a bed, no matter how good the conditions are, it is better to find a hotel nearby. After all, The RV is not soundproofed, it is cold in winter and hot in summer, and there are mosquitoes. As for food, why should you cook your own food? There are no restaurants or catering around. Since you are traveling, why not taste the food from different places and experience the local customs? , no matter how delicious you make it, isn’t there enough food at home?

Some people go out and travel a long way, not only not staying, nor eating out, they just sleep in a different place every day, and cook in a different place to boil oil. This is a self-isolated trip with no communication or contact with the local area. What's the point? In fact, it is also a kind of wandering on a budget in a certain sense!

I am not opposed to traveling on a budget. How you want to travel is your own choice.

There is no need to make irresponsible remarks to others. I just want everyone not to be led astray by some people. Really RV travel is not like this. Going out is for enjoyment, not for simple suffering. If you have good accommodation, you don’t need to RV. If you have convenient food, there is no need to cook for yourself. After all, the opportunity to be outside is rare and the time is limited. Why not enjoy the scenery, socialize with people, understand local customs and in-depth discoveries and excavations?

I traveled by car for 114 consecutive days in 2019, covering a total distance of 27,000 kilometers. Before I set off, I read a lot of people’s travel notes and learned how to modify my car. I also made a “very comfortable” bed. I also bought a mobile refrigerator and brought a rice cooker. I also wanted to stay in a car and cook by myself during the trip. Eat.

After the trip, I only stayed in the car four times because I couldn’t find a place to stay. I only cooked five meals. The rest were in hotels and inns and ate in small restaurants on the street. The main reason is that living in a car is really not good for rest. Regardless of whether it is hot or cold, I will wake up if there is any movement outside. However, staying in a hotel can still sleep peacefully no matter how bad the conditions are. Not to mention eating, I don’t have time to buy food and cook. There are special snacks everywhere, why don’t I try them.

In addition, the tourism conditions in various places are very good now. Hotels and inns are everywhere. If it is not the peak season, there are few places where you can't stay or the price is super expensive. The price is basically acceptable. Unless we go to an uninhabited place, if we wander around the edges of towns or scenic spots, it is not difficult to find food and accommodation.

So when we go on a self-driving trip, whether it is an RV or a bed and breakfast, we must think carefully before setting off. How do you want to play? Don’t be led astray by those travel bloggers. Their lives may not necessarily be the same. To adapt to you, their budget travel is a "work travel", while your travel is a life enjoyment travel. Saving money is not the purpose. The fun of spending money and the calculation of saving money are due to different starting points.

After a trip, what I am proud of is not how much money I have saved, but how much I have gained, broadened my horizons, and tasted delicious food from all over the world.

Why are RVs becoming less and less popular? Are some places being driven out because they don’t consume?

Recently, I have repeatedly seen RV owners complaining: RVs are not allowed to park in many places. Some public parking lots have height limits and RVs cannot drive in. Some parking lots can park, but no one can live in the car. ; There are also parking lots that charge very high fees for RVs; in a certain place in Hainan, RVs are also driven to remote places without supporting facilities and the environment is very bad?

Why is this? Is it because YQ is difficult to manage? Or has the policy changed and RV tourism is no longer welcome?

Some people say that RVs take up a lot of resources when they arrive in a place, but they do not consume much and do not contribute much to the local economy. Once there are too many, they will also affect the local environment and cause a lot of inconvenience.

In fact, there are more and more RVs now, but the quality of RV owners has not improved much, which has caused some negative effects or cognitive decline. Let me talk about several phenomena I saw:

1. During the Spring Festival last year, I saw a free parking lot in a scenic spot in Yunnan. There were more than a dozen RVs parked there, most of which stayed for a week or more. For half a month, they occupied more than half of the parking lot, and they occupied other public areas every day to drink tea, chat, cook, and live broadcast. This reduced the utilization rate of the parking lot and caused dissatisfaction among the locals. The surrounding villagers also complained because they were not provided with accommodation or food.

2. Last summer in Lugu Lake, I saw bed cars and RVs parked by the lake, burning oil for cooking. In fact, this phenomenon is absolutely prohibited by the local area. This is their ignorance. I don’t know the environmental protection regulations of Lugu Lake and the local people’s reverence and worship for this holy lake. Such desecration is not allowed near the lake.

3. In Hainan last November, I saw a lot of RVs and bed trucks "occupying" parking lots and public land. They not only parked their cars, but also set up various tents and placed tents around them. It is filled with all kinds of utensils, not only dogs, but also flowers and plants. It turns out that they come here to spend the winter and live here for a long time. Due to lack of attention to public hygiene, garbage is littered everywhere, which is disgusting.

Such an RV trip obviously puts pressure on the local area. It is a "competition" with the local people. Can it not cause resentment?
