The magical root

Fijians especially like to gather in groups. When it comes to major festivals, the whole family likes to buy a lot of food and drinks together. A woman from each family cooks pots of delicious food together. Kava is definitely indispensable.

But Kava has a lot of stamina, so on the day after a large-scale festival, you will usually see many people walking unsteadily on the street. This is probably because they have drunk too much Kava.

There are many five-star hotels in Fiji. During the peak tourist season, many people from European and American countries come here for a long vacation, often one or two months. Many hotels will arrange for dark-skinned and shiny men to perform torch dances after dark. They usually bare their upper bodies and dance some kind of primitive dance with their lower bodies surrounded by hay and leaves.

In some festivals, there will be carnival dances performed by men or youth groups. Most of them wear grass skirts and dance with the most primitive power of life.
