Introduction to Yinshan Talin Scenic Area

The Yinshan Pagoda Forest is located in Xihu Village, Xingshou Town, Changping District, Beijing. It is a temple site with a long history and cultural value.

According to records, the Yinshan Pagoda Forest was first built in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty. Since the Yuanhe period of Emperor Xianzong of the Tang Dynasty, famous monks and Zen masters from all over the ages have come here to practice. After the death of Zen masters and the death of novice monks and novices, according to their status and rank in Buddhism, spiritual pagodas were built in the Fahua Zen Temple and at the foot of Yinshan Mountain, and their bodies were cremated and buried in them, forming a forest of pagodas. It is called "Silver Mountain Tower Forest".

At present, there are still 17 tomb towers in Yinshan Pagoda Forest, varying in size. The tallest tower is more than 20 meters high and about 7 meters in diameter, while the shortest tower is only two or three meters high. Judging from the shape of the tower, it can be roughly divided into two categories: one is the dense eaves type tower, and the other is the bowl-covered tower.

In addition to these two forms of tomb towers, there is also a combined tomb tower that combines the two forms of dense eaves and covered bowls to form a unique architectural style. This unique special-shaped tower is considered to be the best work in the pagoda forest. It is of great value to the study of ancient Chinese Buddhism and masonry architecture, and is a precious cultural heritage.
