What is Bengbu?

Bengbu, also known as Pearl City, is a prefecture-level city in Anhui Province. It is an important comprehensive industrial base in Anhui Province. It is located in the northern part of Anhui Province, in the middle reaches of the Huaihe River, with a total area of ??5950.72 square kilometers and a permanent population of 3.392 million people (2018 year), as of 2019, Bengbu City has jurisdiction over 4 municipal districts and 3 counties: Longzihu District, Bengshan District, Yuhui District, Huaishang District, Huaiyuan County, Wuhe County, and Guzhen County. History records that Bengbu was “a place for pearl fishing in ancient times”, so it is known as the “Pearl City”. On January 1, 1947, Bengbu was officially established as a city, becoming the first city in Anhui Province to be established as a city. In April 1952, Bengbu City was directly under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province. As of April 2019, Bengbu City has jurisdiction over three counties: Huaiyuan, Wuhe, and Guzhen, and four municipal districts: Longzihu, Bengshan, Yuhui, and Huaishang.
