From 1936 to 1938, the founding fathers Chen Yi (then alias Gao Laoliu), Xiang Ying and Chen Pixian launched an arduous and world-renowned three-year guerrilla war in Gannan.

The main base areas are built in remote villages under the jurisdiction of Dayu, Xinfeng and Nanxiong counties around Yiyou Mountain, among which Pengkeng Village in Jiangyong, Dayu, my hometown, is the most important.

Because of this, Pengkeng Village left many revolutionary relics of guerrilla warfare in Chen Yi in those days, but after decades, they were all destroyed.

In recent years, the three levels of government in Jiangxi Province have attached great importance to the restoration of these cultural relics, developed them into red tourist attractions, and named them Chen Yi's former residence.

It takes about 30 minutes to drive into the mountains from my hometown to Chen Yi's former residence. On both sides of the road are dense forests of deep mountains and streams, especially bamboo.

On the third day of Chinese New Year's Day/0/4: 00, I took my old mother and my eleven-year-old son on a red tour nearby. The weather is exceptionally warm, just like summer.

Arrive at Chen Yi's former residence at 14:30 pm. There is a stage in front of the parking lot, with a plastic sculpture of a flying five-star red flag in the middle.

On the right is a red couplet written horizontally, which reads: Yan 'an in the north and Chijiang in the south. Although there are exaggerated words, it is enough to illustrate the core position of Chijiang Town in guerrilla warfare in the south.

Opposite the parking lot on the left is Chen Yi's former residence. Go through the small gatehouse and then through the courtyard paved with blue bricks, and you will arrive at the main house.

The plaque at the main entrance reads "Former Residence of Comrade Chen Yi", which is elegant and generous, and was inscribed by General Zhang Aiping, the former Minister of National Defense of Chen Yi.

Although it is called Chen Yi's former residence, the actual owner is the revolutionary masses who died on Wednesday. 1936 In the spring, after Chen Yi arrived in Pengkeng, he set up a tent on the hill behind the Revolutionary People's Court for seclusion on Wednesday.

Chen Yi was seriously injured in a battle in August 1934. Due to lack of medical care and medicine, leg injuries often recur. Villager Zhou Xiaodi and her husband Liu Hanguang risked their lives to let Chen Yi move to their home, and cured his leg injury with local herbs and salt water.

At that time, the Kuomintang army blocked the mountainous area and life was very difficult. In order to persist in the struggle, Chen Yi and the guerrillas followed the changes of the four seasons, picking wild vegetables in spring, bayberry in summer, mountain fruit in autumn and bamboo shoots in winter, and spent three hard years in the mountains.

More than a thousand days and nights, not just the alternation of four seasons. Every mountain, every river, every tree and every forest is permeated with red and pure persistence and firm belief.

In those days, Wednesday Di often risked her life, carrying bamboo baskets to deliver meals, buy materials and spy on the enemy, so Chen Yi renamed her "Zhou Basket".

On Wednesday, Di was affectionately called "Sister-in-law Zhou Lan" by guerrillas. Zhou Lanyong saved Chen Yi and supported the guerrillas. Because he fought bravely with the local white army (Kuomintang army), he left many touching stories.

Entering the main entrance is the front hall, and the left room of the front hall is the former residence of Zhou Lan and her husband.

There are oil lamps, pens and inkstones used in those days, as well as old objects used at that time, such as flour sticks and magnetic pots.

Farm tools such as plows and rakes are placed in the right room of the front hall, and tools used to add food at that time, such as stone spoons and stone mills, are placed on the right wall.

1936 On the Dragon Boat Festival, Mrs. Zhou sent a basket of Gannan zongzi made by herself to Pixian, who lives in a shed.

Passing through the lobby is a courtyard, and the courtyard stays in the middle of the house, which is the unique architectural feature of Hakka architecture in southern Jiangxi.

There is also a big stone spoon beside the patio, and there are green plants in the well that have climbed up the edge of the well.

After the patio, there is the main hall, and the walls on both sides of the main hall are profiles of the leaders of guerrilla warfare in the south.

On the ground on both sides of the wall are cultural relics placed in glass frames, and in the middle are sculptures of several leaders meeting.

On the left side of the main hall is the room where Chen Yi lived in Zhou Lan's house. There is a big window in front of the room, and you can see the mountain road in front of it.

There is a side door on the side. Once the enemy enters the house, Chen Yi can quickly go up to the Woods in the back hill and hide. Chen Yi's room also has a ceramic kettle for drinking water.

Behind the whole former residence is a wooded back hill. Lush vegetation, green bamboo.

There is a forgotten well and a monument in the back hill, on which Chen Yi's Guerrilla Talk in Gannan is engraved. There is a big Cang Sang tree nearby, whose branches spread like umbrellas. It is said that it is Chen Yi's final resting place.

After the victory of the revolution, Chen Yichen Pixian kept in touch with Zhou Lan's sister-in-law. Zhou Lan Sao's residence was designated as a cultural relic protection unit in Dayu County in 1984.

Eighty years passed quickly, and the villagers' old house still stood on Wednesday. Although this house with civil structure has been renovated many times later, it has basically remained the same.

In the afternoon 15:00, we made a complete tour and took a walk in the bamboo forest on the other side of the former residence.
