How to effectively deal with tourist casualties

Critical illness management. First of all, if tourists are sick, they should inform the duty manager of the local tourist area to arrange rescue. It is best to have relatives, friends or leaders present throughout the process.

In the event of death, the local public security agency should be notified immediately and the person in charge of the tour group to which the deceased belonged should be notified. In the case of a normal death, the aftermath unit should be contacted quickly. If there is no unit to receive the death, the matter will be jointly handled by the public security and relevant response departments. In the event of abnormal death, the scene must be protected and evidence must be obtained by the public security department. Bodies should be properly preserved before disposal.

Notify family members. In the event of a normal death, after notifying the public security department, the reception or work unit will be responsible for notifying the deceased's unit or family members. Or the tourist area or public security department may be responsible for notification.

Disposal of relics. When counting the belongings of the deceased, the entourage or family members and scenic spot staff must be present. If the deceased has a last wish, the will should be photographed or copied, and the original should be given to the deceased's family or unit. All relics must be listed and signed by the person counting them, and notarization procedures must be completed after signing.

Disposal of remains. It is generally appropriate to cremate locally. Before cremation, the tour leader, family members or representatives of the deceased must fill out the "Revitalization Application Form" and submit it to the tourist area for preservation. If the family members request that the body be transported back to its place of origin, the body will be embalmed and installed by the funeral home, and a "Certificate of Installation" will be issued. Relevant certificates must be provided for transportation back to the place of origin.

Others. Attention should be paid to the family members of the deceased and other tourists, and the rescue process of the deceased should be announced to the entire group. During the handling process, we should always pay attention to the thoughts, emotions and reactions of the relatives of the deceased and other relevant personnel, and report them in a timely manner. After the aftermath is completed, the reception unit should write a "Death Aftercare Situation Report" and send it to the leading unit, the Public Security Bureau and other relevant units. The report includes the cause of death, rescue measures, diagnosis results, aftermath treatment, etc. Foreigners who die in China must be handled strictly in accordance with the "Procedures for Handling the Death of Foreigners in China" issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of China.
