Where does Cheng Hai belong?

Chenghai belongs to the famous scenic spot of Lijiang Wetland Lakes.

Chenghai is located in the middle of Yongsheng County, 46 kilometers away from the county seat. The lake is 20 kilometers long, running north to south, with an average width of 4 kilometers. The maximum water depth is 36.9 meters, the water surface is 1503 meters above sea level, and the water storage capacity is 1.987 billion cubic meters. Covering an area of ??77.2 square kilometers, it is the second largest freshwater lake in western Yunnan and one of the three largest lakes in the world where spirulina naturally grows.

Chenghai, formerly known as Chenghe, is also known as Heiwu Sea. Before the mid-Ming Dynasty, the lake water flowed southward for more than 30 kilometers and merged into the Jinsha River, forming the Chenghe River system. After that, the smoke around the lake became increasingly dense, the lake water swelled, and it gradually became a closed land lake. Regarding the formation of Chenghai, "Qianlong Yongbei Prefecture Chronicle" records: According to popular legend, in the past, a man named Chen lived on land, and it turned into a sea overnight, hence the name. Later Yi Chen became Cheng. This is a supplementary theory, but it is actually a fault graben formed by the Himalayan orogeny in the middle of the Tertiary Period of the Cenozoic Era (12 million years ago), and water gathered in the depression to form a lake. This kind of lake is called a subsidence lake in geology.

Chenghainan Lianjina River Valley is bounded by the Sanchuan Basin to the north. Green hills confront each other on the east and west sides. The lake water is as transparent as a mirror. When the fishing season comes in summer and autumn, carp, white minnow, tench, red-finned fish, Millions of catties of crucian carp and other fish are caught every year. In 1989, Taihu whitebait culture was successfully introduced, with an annual output of more than 800 tons, becoming an export product that earns foreign exchange. The climate in Chenghai Lake District is mid-subtropical, with an average temperature of 18.7°C and no frost all year round. The water quality is alkaline and there is sufficient sunlight, which is suitable for the growth of fish and algae. Whenever summer comes, strange scenery will appear in Chenghai. There will be large gray-brown floating objects on the clear water, which the locals call Xiangmianshui. It turns out that this kind of fragrant water is a special aggregation phenomenon caused by the cyanobacteria that breed in the depths of the sea and rotate and tumble to the sea surface as the temperature difference changes. Naturally grown cyanobacteria, or spirulina, has a protein content of more than 50% and contains eight essential amino acids, vitamin B12 and carotene. The United Nations and the World Food Association call spirulina the most ideal and excellent high-protein nutritional health food for mankind in the 21st century. In 1988, artificial cultivation of spirulina was successfully carried out by using lake water on the shores of Chenghai Lake, and Chenghai became a blue cornucopia that attracted worldwide attention.

Since 1992, four spirulina breeding plants including Yunnan Spirui have been built on the shores of Chenghai Lake, with a total investment of 280 million yuan, an annual production capacity of 1,000 tons of bath powder, and an output value of 120 million yuan, becoming a The world's largest spirulina production base. In 1995, Chenghai Spirulina development was included in the 18th biological resource development project organized and implemented by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, becoming Yongsheng's most distinctive pillar industry.

Chenghai is not only rich in unique aquatic products, but also has beautiful scenery. The ancients once wrote a poem: The silver sea contains the mountains, and the fishing boats are near the rocks; when they come to the highest place in the evening, they sing wildly. Boarding the boat for a swim, you will see the glimmering water and the vast mist; the terraces along the coast are green, and the cottages are dark with willows and flowers, making you feel like you have entered a picturesque realm. There is no frost here all year round, the water temperature of the lake is 17.6℃~27.5℃, and the sandy beach in the northern bay is soft and clean, which is several miles long. You can play in the water and swim in Bo Namin, making it a natural place for winter swimming and entertainment. The existing highway on the west coast of Chenghai runs from north to south, and the lake is navigable. Cars and boats can travel side by side, making the transportation very convenient. This cornucopia of beauty and richness awaits development into an important tourist resort.
