Chengde history

Originated from 1703, Kangxi built the Summer Resort (Royal Summer Palace) in Qing Dynasty, which became the second political center of Qing Dynasty. Rehetang was founded in1723; 1733, Yong Zhengdi means "Chengzude"; The word "Emperor Inherited Heaven and Virtue" means "the first emperor inherited heaven and earth to educate all things" and established Zhili Prefecture in Chengde, which was originally called "Chengde"; In the Republic of China and the early days of liberation, it was the capital of the former Jehol Province; 1955, the organizational system of Jehol Province was abolished, and Chengde was placed under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province.

Liu Zhang, a famous poet, wrote a poem for Chengde, "Chengde is beautiful and healthy, and the emperor inherits the glory of Tiande. The ancient city is majestic and sees Gankun, and the king respects the world. "

Chengde, also known as Emperor Inheriting Heaven's Virtue —— Interpretation of "The First Emperor Inherited Heaven and Earth's Grace and Educated Everything"

Chengde was first used as a place name in Qing Dynasty, but it refers to Fengtian (now Shenyang). Before the Qing dynasty entered the customs, it built its capital in Fengtian. In the third year of Kangxi (1664), the Qing government named Fengtian Chengde and set up Chengde County, inheriting the meaning of the ancestor Deze.

In the 11th year of Yongzheng (1733), Yong Zhengdi followed his father Kangxi's practice of naming Fengtian as Chengde, named the Jehol at that time as Chengde, and changed the Jehol Hall to Chengde House. This move also shows the intention of accepting Deze.

The word "Emperor inherits Heaven's virtue" further shows Yong Zhengdi's concept and vision of governing the country. Among them, the word "emperor" represents the emperor and symbolizes the dignity and authority of imperial power; The word "Cheng" continues the meaning of "Chengde", that is, inheritance and development; The word "Tiande" symbolizes the kindness of heaven and earth to educate all things, and it is the embodiment of the emperor's awe and gratitude to heaven and earth.
